Story
In Find Me the Votes, two years of immersive reporting by Isikoff and Klaidman has produced the most authoritative and dramatic account yet of a defeated president’s conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election and how a local Georgia prosecutor—a daughter of the civil rights movement—decided to indict him and his allies for his desperate attempt to hold on to power. From the beginning, Fani Willis saw Donald Trump’s crimes as a voting rights case, and an attempt by the former president to deprive the citizens of Georgia of the franchise, a right for which her forebears had bled.

In Midnight in Washington, Schiff argues that the Trump presidency has so weakened our institutions and compromised the Republican Party that the peril will last for years.

He has repeated many of his most outrageous claims dozens or even hundreds of times as he has sought to bend reality to his political fantasy and personal whim. Ascending to the leadership role of US Attorney for the Southern District, which includes Manhattan and several counties to the north, is a capstone to any legal career: it entails guiding a team of the best lawyers in America in selecting and winning cases that often have global import. Geoffrey Berman was honored to be tapped for the job by Donald Trump in 2018. The manner in which Trump had dispatched his predecessor Preet Bharara was troubling, but the institution was fabled for its independence. Surely he could manage.

Story
Whether you know it as the ‘succulent Chinese meal’ video, or ‘democracy manifest’, chances are you have seen the video of baritone larrikin Jack Karlson getting arrested outside a Brisbane Chinese restaurant in 1991. The Guardian called it ‘perhaps the pre-eminent Australian meme of the last 10 years’. When Karlson called crime writer Mark Dapin out of the blue, though, Dapin hadn’t heard of him. But there was enough that intrigued him about this theatrical outlaw to continue the conversation. Over the following months emerged a dark and complex past.

Excellent book
- By Karolyn on 21-04-2024
Publisher's Summary
This book almost didn’t see the light of day as government officials tried to bar its publication.
The inside story of the real President Trump, by his former attorney and personal advisor - the man who helped get him into the oval office
Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried.
This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.
This is a story that you have not read in newspapers, or on social media, or watched on television. These are accounts that only someone who worked for Trump around the clock for over a decade - not a few months or even a couple of years - could know. Cohen describes Trump’s racist rants against President Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, and Black and Hispanic people in general, as well as the cruelty, humiliation, and abuse he leveled at family and staff. Whether he’s exposing the fact that Trump engaged in tax fraud by inflating his wealth or electronic fraud by rigging an online survey, or outing Trump’s Neanderthal views towards women or his hush-money payments to clandestine lovers, Cohen pulls no punches.
He shows Trump’s relentless willingness to lie, exaggerate, mislead, or manipulate. Trump emerges as a man without a soul - a man who courts evangelicals and then trashes them, panders to the common man, but then rips off small business owners, a con man who will do or say absolutely anything to win, regardless of the cost to his family, his associates, or his country.
At the heart of Disloyal, we see how Cohen came under the spell of his charismatic "Boss" and, as a result, lost all sense of his moral compass.
The real "real" Donald Trump who permeates this audiobook - the racist, sexist, homophobic, lying, cheating president - will be discussed, written about, and analyzed for years to come.

Good for him
In a world of Bob Woodwards and John Boltons (aka, people who spend their lives claiming to be the good guys while all along only disclosing the truth in as much as will profit them the most), it's refreshing to hear the actual truth from a man who is willing to admit to his own sins.
I hope this is the turning point for Michael Cohen that it sounds like. No, he's still not perfect, but he did good with his book. Good for him.

Birds of a feather stick together....until they don’t
‘Birds of a feather stick together’ they say. And clearly that’s what Michael Cohen and Trump were at the outset, despite the urgings of Cohen’s better angels. A fascinating insight into both of them. The allure of money, power and fame. I do wonder whether Cohen’s better angels would ever have exerted any real influence had Trump not set the dogs on Cohen.

A powerful insight into the inner workings of the untouchables.
Truth is just a word. Don’t rely on it.
It is interesting how easily ethics, morality and loyalty can be exchanged for justification.
A lesson on Media and law enforcement behaviour.
If 10% is truthful, it’s still disgraceful.

Author deserves his jail time
I feel the book is a mixture of truth and self serving lies. The author deserves the jail time he got. It's well written but the subject matter is stomach turning. He may say he's trying to amend for inflicting Trump on the world but I doubt there's anything he can do to make up for the chaos his boss and indirectly him, have caused worldwide. He should spend the rest of his life trying to make amends. No decent human being would do the things he did.
