Publisher's Summary

As the Horus Heresy divides the Imperium, Corax and his few remaining Raven Guard escape the massacre at Isstvan V. Tending to their wounds, the bloodied Space Marines endeavour to replenish their numbers and return to the fray, taking the fight to the traitor Warmaster.

Distraught at the crippling blow dealt to his Legion, Corax returns to Terra to seek the aid of his father - the Emperor of Mankind. Granted access to ancient secrets, Corax begins to rebuild the Raven Guard, planning his revenge against his treacherous brother primarchs. But not all his remaining warriors are who they appear to be.

The mysterious Alpha Legion have infiltrated the survivors and plan to destroy the Raven Guard before they can rebuild and threaten Horus's plans.

Awesome 👌

An interesting insight into Corax and his raven guard Gareth Armstrong gives a great narration I like how he rolls the R in all the titles he narrates

Excellent book

Brilliant in so many ways. It filled in so many gaps about the Raven Guard.

Don't even like RG but what a story

An absolute cannot miss. The storyline here is very important to the remainder of the HH. Great story for RG and non RG fans. Features, Big E, Dorn, Alpharius/Omegon, Imperial Fists, Emperor's Children, Horus and his crew of henchmen, Corax, Malcador.

Too many loose ends

Spoilers:
What about the dream warning / b plot?
who’s letting the geneseed get tampered with? It’s the most important thing! The emperor specifically said, “Corax, whatever you do, DON’T let the traitors get the geneseed, it’s the MOST important thing.”; why is no one checking on the geneseed to not notice it had changed; why did no one notice that it had been stollen in the aftermath. Surely is the first thing you check. Along with the gear the Alpha legion had taken from the lab.
Fun story but bad aftertaste.

Awesome!

Awesome book! Books takes you into the story and doesn't let you go. I don't remember when was the last time I have listened to the entire book in one sitting.

A great book

Easily one of the best books of the series so far. The writer did a great job of conveying exactly what and how the raven guard operate and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Uninspired story and poor narration

Unless you are desperate to hear to something with the word Raven Guard in it this is one of the poorer stories in the HH series. This was quite a slog the whole way through. Story was utterly predictable and dialogue between characters has no substance. No characters in here are memorable, especially not the Primarch which is disappointing. Gareth Armstrong does his usual out of place five your voices of the big strong Astartes which makes most of the conversations even worse. I’d prefer he just read the text.

I wanted to like this more

I like the Raven Guard. There were quite a few times I like this audio book for them too. Sadly it's not as good as other titles in the series. Still some important back story to the Raven Guard and the Horus Heresy but many parts drag on.
