Former FBI agent Rachel Walling is working a dead-end stint in South Dakota when she gets the call she's been dreading for four years. The Poet is back. And he has not forgotten Rachel. He has a special present for her.
Harry Bosch is adjusting to life in Las Vegas as a private investigator and as a new father. He gets a call, too, from the widow of a friend who died recently. Previously in his FBI career, the friend worked on the famous case tracking the killer known as The Poet. This fact alone makes some of the elements of his death doubly suspicious. And Harry Bosch is heading straight into the path of the most ruthless and inventive murderer he has ever encountered.

Harry Bosch is at the top of my list of favourites,,always. A plot that challenges me and pulls me right in to find this elusive chameleon.the fbi joisting with LAPD leaves room for a smile, albeit tense. All of this plot sat tightly together with briliant flow from vivd scene to vivd scene.MC created a smart way to bring some sweet promise of romance back into Harry's life for the next book.
I can barely breathe out I am in so much suspense! A gifted criminal who knows the ropes and is one step ahead, MC lures the best from each character, we know that Harry is going to get his man, but the catch is a chilling journey.
Harry is always so smooth. Loved the way he just rocks on up in the desert and then even gets rescued by Rachel. The almost tragic narrows and then it doesn't even end there. Where next?
poetic justice! Has to become "a Poet's Justice"
Really missed the music in this one, especially since he was driving long distances. Some Frank Morgyn or who would he have like in this situation?
The Narrows continues the Bosch series to a high standard. It ties in with previous books, however this one is in the first person for Bosch and third person for the other characters. It works well and the performance is good. The story is gripping and thoroughly enjoyable, however I felt that the ending was a slight let down - nothing massive as it ties things up, but it did take the wind out of my sails. Overall, if you've enjoyed previous Bosch books, you should enjoy this one. Recommended.
Really enjoyed this book, great story loved the characters and Harry's tête with the FBI
book was a bit slow to start with but once it got going it was as good as all the previous books.
"Hwen pronunciation goes bad"
Another great story, but sad and annoying that the narrator cannot say words starting wh! Hwoops!
"Sequal to "the Poet"."
Not as strong as the first one, but still a diverting read with a little twist at the end!
are the F B I that useless? too unbelievable. Not up to usual high standards
"A great book, shame about the incidental music"
Gripping, Enthralling, engaging
The story is told from three perspectives, that of Harry Bosch, the investigation and that of the poet himself. It is cleverly written so you know exactly what character you are hearing about and almost as though you are looking over their shoulder.
The narrator brings a sense of depth to the story, he creates voices for the characters, something that really helps with the telling. He takes a little getting used to though
The day the FBI has been dreading has arrived… He's BACK!
it is a shame that the production company feel it necessary to put incidental music in between the chapters. Its not necessary and spoils the books a little.
"Another good one"
Bosh writes in the first person which is initially off- putting but it gets better and reaches a satisfying finale.
"Music and sound effects."
Please stop the music between chapters and unnecessary sound effects. I use audiobooks to sooth me to sleep at night and the music breaks and sound effects negate the soporific effect of listening to a voice. Even if not trying to sleep I still find it very distracting and unnecessary. If I want music and sound effects I would rather be at the cinema or watching TV. I love Harry Bosch but had to stop listening to this one and the last one as I couldn't sleep and was becoming irritated so have had to switch to a non Audible book to ensure it had no added sound. Thank you.
