Devastatingly powerful and utterly unforgettable, The Family will hook you in from the very first page, and keep you there till the very last. Phillip Murphy is a family man. He worships his old mum; he takes care of his siblings who help run his business empire; he dotes on his two young sons who will one day take over. And then there's his wife and saviour Christine, whom he loves with a vengeance. To Phillip Murphy, family is everything. Christine has always understood this about her husband. But there is another side to Phillip, and it's a side he never wanted his wife to see. Though even if she did, could she do anything but stand by him?
Because Phillip has rules, and he expects loyalty from his nearest and dearest. Once you're in the family, you're in it for life.

"martina cole not at her best"
I have read all of Martina Cole's book and enjoy them immensely, but this story is some what predictable , but still a good read not one of her best though
not this time
yes, excellent reader
intriguing story of life, family and crime
no, Martina Cole is an excellent crime thriller writer
"Well worth a listen"
As with Martina Cole novels the book is a great audiobook to listen to however the ending although good is a bit hurried for all the groundwork that goes before even saying that its a great listen. Martina creates characters you love or hate in only a way that she can.
"Martina Cole smashes it again!"
another great story from Martina Cole with believable characters, great narrative and the narrator was fabulous!
"Not quite believable."
Too much happened that couldn't be explained away. Not as enjoyable as other Cole books.
had me gripped from the very start, brilliant storyline . you can visualise every charaters.
"Love this book"
I am an absolute martina cole fan love this book one of her best excellent
"blood's thicker than water so says the family"
Martina Cole writes like a soap opera screen writer. She's what you'd call a tube station writer. All the chapters are short which means there's time to read them between tube stops. However the story is good. irf you like medium paced novels with violence and introspection then you'll like this one. I liked bits of it but for me there was too much introspection which took the pace off it too often and the nmarator might have done a bertter job. I'd say it was an average book but well written with plenty of attention to detail.
Was generally a good story, but the overuse of swear words was unneccesary, especially when the narrator sounded like my dear sweet old aunt using bad language. Overall think this book would have been better narrated by a man, but I would certainly listen to another book by the narrator, who did an excellent job.
Nothing really was a bit predictable
As above, think this would have been a book better read by a man due to the amount of swearing throughout
No, bit old hat and been done many times before
Won't be reading another Martina Cole
Loved this book, endless hours of driving made so much easier. Fully recommend this one.
