In this gripping thriller, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.
Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.
When her former handler offers her a way out, she realises it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.
Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.
In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialised skill set. And she shows once again why she's one of the world's best-selling authors.

I enjoyed this story very much and highly recommend it. I liked the reading voice and the content completely different from my world. Nice to escape!
completely fell in love with this book and the characters. great narrative, very well read and it sucked me right into the fictional story line. absolutely great novel!
Interesting start and then a few twists along the way the story is well worth the time. It is by Stephanie Meyer so there are certain eye rolling moments but then when is everything perfect. The story line is what we are reading and this is interesting enough that you can ignore the lame bits.
The plot itself and how the start develops. Definitely original and interesting
Not for adults but definitely a good YA.
Not a thriller. Is quite full of cliches and a love story that is too juvenile and out of context.
I quit halfway through!
"Held my attention and amazing characters"
I loved this book. I am Stephenie Meyer fan and my favourite book is the Host. I was expecting this book to be the 2nd in the series (the seeker) but i'm not disappointed as this is a great book.
This book has no supernatural element to it but has three great characters that I couldn't get enough of. The lead role is female and she is a strong character who can look after her self from the very start of the book! There are so many great scenes where she kicks ass of strong male characters which is fab. There is of course a love story of course but it isn't the main focus of the story :)
I love the way Stephanie writes as the story flows well, very catchy and characters you feel for very quickly. Give it a go!
"Twilight all grown up and really worth the read"
I loved this audio it was well written and read. I am a massive fan of the twilight saga and simply read this book due to that but the Chemist is so much more than I expected and the suspense is so good at times its painful.
"Not for veterans of the "Thriller genre."
Perhaps a good book for younger readers or those just beginning their foray into the world of "thrillers". The blurb led me to expect more intrigue and depth than this story delivered and I feel that "young adult fiction" should be a sub-heading. The narrator is clearly very talented (excellent male character voices, I thought) and would be well-suited to a range of performances, however in this case, she invested no drama or tension into the story-telling, which for me, detracted from any sense of suspense or involvement. I stuck with it to the end in case something happened to redeem this book but unfortunately it didn't. Just not for me I suppose and I'd be delighted if I could write nearly as well as this author, however this misses the mark in my opinion, for what that's worth as a non-author.
"Edge of the seat thriller"
I couldn't put this book down. The main character is an ex government employee, an interrogator, who has to go on the run when the government decides to eliminate her. There is some romance, and plenty of James Bond style action. If you have read Stephenie Meyer's previous books, this one is very different in that there is nothing supernatural about it, but there are hints of the The Host in there nevertheless. The characters are brilliantly developed, as is the plot line, and there is never a dull moment. The narrator does a brilliant job of bringing the characters to life. Highly recommended to anyone.
Gripping story. Great characters. Best audible so far. Narrator excellent. Loved it.
More fun than Jack Reacher.
Not as boring as Girl on the train.
il giusto mix tra passione e avventura senza drammi inutili ma semplice ed efficace! bello!
"something different with No foul language!!!"
could not stop listening great story nd a long time since I've seen something that didn't need foul language or explicit sex. VERY refreshing.
it was reasonable. no 'the host' bit girly.
will not download hers again. that's it.
no the host.
At first I thought this is not the book for me, however, i kept listening and was soon hooked the book has lots of twists and turns, keeping me gripped! I really love the storyline. Totally different again from the authors other books. I highly recommend you get this book. The way it ends I wonder if there is going to be another follow up, I really hope so.
Good characters. Great detail about covert living. A bit long winded so slightly impatient at end...but overall I would recommend.
