After nearly dying while taking out a target in Hong Kong, Rain has a new employer, the Mossad, which wants him to fix a "problem" in Manila. He also has a new partner, Dox, whose good-ol'-boy persona masks a sniper as deadly as Rain himself. And he has a new hope: that by using his talents in the service of something good, he might atone for all the lives he has taken. But when Rain's conscience causes him to botch the Manila hit, he finds out the next problem the Mossad wants fixed is himself. Is Delilah, his Mossad lover, coming to help him? Or was she sent to finish him off?

"REDEMPTION GAMES redeems John Rain series"
I've tried the John Rain books before and wasn't a big fan, but then I tried the Ben Treven series and wanted more (there are only two so far). So, I went back to John Rain now that Barry Eisler is narrating them - WOW! What a difference. I'm now on a marathon and Love this series. I guess the reader really does make all the difference. This was such a good book. Great story, easy to follow and fast paced. Can't get over the difference, last Rain book I listened to I thought was boring, I'm relistening now and want them all.
Barry Eisler narrates wonderfully. He did a smart thing reading his own works. I can't believe these are the same books. Five star listening material!
Story is great and narration is excellent
Toss up! Rain and Dox. Rain for his depth, Dox for lightheartedness.
Dox. Nailed the accent and mannerisms of the character.
"John Rain Reigns, Once More!"
Redemption Games bt Barry Eisler is outstanding! If it is possible to love a book, I'd have to state having the author of said book, makes it an entirely other worldly experience. I so enjoy the descriptions of the different characters and foreign sites just add to the pleasure of this book. Having previously read three other Rain novels, I knew what to expect, intelligent wording, descriptive violences, John's inner dialogue, multiple story layers, all building to this book's satisfying conclusion. Recommend : Extremely! Next Up: Another Eisler Masterpiece.
"Full meal deal!"
Emotionally satisfying -- intelligent thriller and because Eisler is reading them himself it's exceptionally well preformed - he's in the soul of John Rain - he knows where he's going. It's hard to find much better writing or stories than this series & this one is one of the very best.
"Jog Rain rapes a woman and that's OK?"
John Rain forces his way on a women while she is pinned down. That is rape, not "hot". Eisler is a good writer. That's the best he could do?
"Enter Dox and Delilah"
Among the best series I've read or listened to. Notice how inexpensive they are.
I wrote an enthusiastically positive and extended review for Book 1: "Clean Kill in Tokyo."
Eisler is a smart and accomplished guy. Checkout his website and his Wikipedia bio.
In Book 4 John Rain is starting to build a team of characters. Both Dox and Delilah are good additions.
"just bought the 5th book. ..."
I have been enjoying this series. Barry Eisler has done a great job developing characters over the course of this series. I find myself eagerly awaiting the next installment as I finish each book.
"Good book in the series"
Eisler narrating his own work is fantastic. reads right from the emotional source of the character.
Good story overall, but make sure to listen to the series in sequence. Some of the deeper context of the story does not make sense without it.
I am looking forward to listening to the next one.
He's very good at reading his work except for the female voices.
disappointment, I'm done with Eisler.
"Wonderful characters, gripping plot"
Well, I listen to 5 to 7 books a week, have bought well over 200, and I have to say, Barry Eisler is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, and he's definitely in my top three favorite narrators--just brilliant!
The developing characters of Rain and Dox and their growing friendship and trust is totally absorbing and believable and complex and funny and moving and I just want more and more and more!
My favorite so far (I insist on reading a series in order, so the next one will probably instantly become my NEW favorite.
Oh YES. I hated to stop for anything!
Please sir, I want some MORE!
