Publisher's Summary

Tommy and Tuppence Beresford have just become the proud owners of an old house in an English village. Along with the property, they have inherited some worthless bric-a-brac, including a collection of antique books. While rustling through a copy of The Black Arrow, Tuppence comes upon a series of apparently random underlinings. However, when she writes down the letters, they spell out a very disturbing message: M a r yJ o r d a nd i dn o td i en a t u r a l l y.

"The Beresfords are wonderfully revived. Smooth, beautifully paced, and effortlessly convincing." (New York Times)

    "just too old"

I am a great agatha christie however this one was just too old on many levels..constant conversation between the husband and wife sleuths..and in the end there was no point trying to work out 'who dun it' as agatha just introduced a random person in the end who was the murderer...very hard to stay involved

    "Not up to standard"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

This book tends to discuss previous Tommy and Tuppence book N or M, I would change the continued reference to that previous case and how it was solved. Luckily I had already read N or M, but if I had not it would have really spoiled that book.

Which character – as performed by Hugh Fraser – was your favourite?

I did not feel Hugh Fraser was up to his usual standards. He tended to use the same tone of voice for some of the characters and it took some concentration to hear which character was which.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

    Not really.

    Any additional comments?

I found the bases of the storyline was good and there are some ingenious ideas, but I did not find it as good as Christie's other works.
