Editorial reviews
Publisher's Summary
The first in the Amos Decker series, Memory Man is an astounding audiobook from blockbuster author David Baldacci, where an extraordinary man races to hunt down a terrible killer.
When Amos Decker returned home eighteen months ago to find the bodies of his wife and only daughter, he didn't think he could carry on living. Overwhelmed with grief, he saw his life spiral out of control, losing his job as a detective, his house and his self-respect. But when his former partner in the police, Mary Lancaster, visits to tell him that someone has confessed to the murder of his family, he knows he owes it to his wife and child to seek justice for them.
As Decker comes to terms with the news, tragedy strikes at the local school. Thirteen teenagers are gunned down, and the killer is at large. Following the serious brain injury Amos suffered as a professional footballer, he gained a remarkable gift – and the police believe that this unusual skill will assist in the hunt for the killer.
Amos must endure the memories he would rather forget, and when new evidence links the murders, he is left with only one option.
Memory Man will stay with you long after the final chapter. The series continues with The Last Mile.

Gripping, interesting and refreshing.
Would you consider the audio edition of Memory Man to be better than the print version?
I loved the audio version but am not sure how it would be in print.
What other book might you compare Memory Man to, and why?
Jack Reacher novels. This guy is big, tough and seems to be able to do anything.
What about Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance did you like?
I loved the use of a female voice. The male would have sounded funny as a female. They worked very well together. nailed it
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Very distracting from life but lucky it is not overly long.
Any additional comments?
There were about 20 times during the book that it was very obvious the narrator had recorded over or stopped then started again as his voice 'refreshed'. It didn't bother me at the end and was hardly noticable but at the beginning I thought he was trying to be another person the voice change/quality was that noticeable.

Great
Thoroughly entertaining and gripped me from the very beginning. A great "who done it". Didn't waste time with details so was very sussing and moved along well. Would recommend to a fussy listener.

A little repetitive in details
Enjoyed this but when you’re reading it you don’t need to have Amos’s condition described as many times.

Memroy Man
Would you listen to Memory Man again? Why?
Yes, the character is different from many crime and fiction, shows many positive traits and the story gets you in and keeps you interested till the end.
What did you like best about this story?
It covers a wide range of topics, from life to medical trauma and whilst showing there are bad people in the world, shows there are also good and they will help others, a simplistic view perhaps, but an engaging read.
Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy – was your favourite?
Definitely, Amos Decker is not only the ,main character, but the most interesting and enjoyable.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
That is not possible in my job, it was listened to as audio of course.
Any additional comments?
It did at times require some concentration and this is the one issue with listening to audio books whilst driving, but as long as you can "read" as the secondary aim, audio books are good to keep the mind active and to reduce fatigue issues on boring roads.
