Killing Me Softly, by the acclaimed and bestselling author Nicci French, is a terrifying journey into the heart of obsession . . . You have everything. But you give it up for an affair. You're in passionate love. And grave danger…
Alice Loudon couldn't resist abandoning her old, safe life for a wild affair. And in Adam Tallis, a rugged mountaineer with a murky past, she finds a man who can teach her things about herself that she never even suspected. But sexual obsession has its dark side - and so does Adam. Soon both are threatening all that Alice has left. First her sanity. Then her life.

"Not my style book"
I had to return this book. I've read most of Nicci French's books and enjoyed them, however this one went down a route that was far too close and personal for my liking and I wasn't able to listen to it. I'm sure Nicci's fans will enjoy it and the narrator is good but I couldn't. Sorry Nicci
another grate book from this grate aurtgor an griping and intresting book good book to curl up on a winters evening with a cosy firr
"Boring! Very little happens..."
Was expecting good things from the snippet available to listen to before buying but that was the best bit. The rest was so boring, with endless bedroom scenes and nothing else. Shouldn't have bought this- it was not the book for me.
"Slow burn that's not really worth the effort"
This is such a slow burner, and whilst I am a patient reader/listener this book tested me to the max. I did listen to the end and I can say that the last few chapters really picked up in pace, but it was a lot of effort for not much of a pay off.
The themes include sexual exploration and domination, obsession and manipulation.
Adam is a sinister character but in contrast the protagonist of the book is frustrating at times and I couldn't really get to the bottom of what motivated her to do the things she did.
Over all I don't think this book is worth the effort there is better out there in this genre, which is a shame as I am a big Nicci French fan - My advice try one of their other books first.
"So bad, I stopped after 3 hours"
This book must be aimed at intellectually-deprived teenagers or empty-headed romantics with no grasp on reality. Everyone likes escapism, but this was just rot.
Worst book I've had in a long time.
"It was just okay!"
No, its just a bit blah!
No, I love this genre. This book was just not that good.
Lisa Coleman's narration was excellent and carried the audio book. I doubt I would have continued to the end if I had been reading it, rather than listening to her tell me the story.
If I am not enjoying a book, I just stop reading or listening. I continued to the end here. The narration really helped, but the book itself had something that kept me interested. However, it was just okay. The premise was very good. There was just something a bit bland about the writing. Also, there were two styles of writing in there, showing it had been written by two people (Nicci French is of course a couple). I had heard great things about these authors. This was my first book by them. I downloaded this and another when they are on special offer. I hope the other one is better than this. Overall, disapointing.
