You DO NOT MESS with the Special Investigators!
The events of 9/11 changed Jack Reacher’s drifter life in a practical way. In addition to his folding toothbrush, he now needs to carry photo ID to get around. Yet he is still as close to untraceable as a human being in America can get.
So when a member of his old Army unit manages to get a message to him, he knows it has to be deadly serious. The Special Investigators always watched each other’s backs. Now Reacher must put the old unit back together. Someone has killed one of them, and he can’t let that go.

I have listened to this twice now, it is enthralling and I enjoyed every second of it. I am a huge Jack Reacher fan and this is one of the best so far.
The last scene leaves the listener itching for more, well it did for me.
Yes but I would spoil the book if I told you.
It is a gripping tail, well worth listening to. I loved it.
Jeff Harding is Reacher in my head. His voice is Reacher and brings the character to life.
I LOVE the sayings that are now part of my mantra. YOU DO NOT MESS WITH SPECIAL FORCES and THE MORE PREPARED YOU ARE THE BETTER LUCK COMES YOUR WAY. not exact quotes but how I remember them.
This story gave us more Reacher because of his colleagues. It was sadder than the rest because of the personal relationships with the victims and their demise.
I am always grabbed from the beginning of each book. I painted 2 rooms non-stop listening to this book. I was totally invested in this book from the beginning.
"Jack has mates = more trouble, more action."
The story is nonsense, but don't let that put you off, Lee Child sells you all of this ridiculousness to the point that you will take a bullet for it. You will probably not want to talk about it in two weeks time down at the pub, but you will buy the next Jack Reacher audiobook from Audible. Jack is an enigma, the improbability of your primordial genetic code. What is not to love with touching your reptilian brain with so much relish? I love the fact that it is such nonsense - so loveable and so enjoyable. Perfect fiction and escape.
It Jack, he's back and he's got mates. Baddies fear and tremble!
The first scene, no, correction the last scene.... Hum, in reconsideration the middle bit.
Moved me? What kind of question is this for a Jack Reacher novel? It does not move, it kicks your butt.
"Don't mess with the Investigators"
Jack with some of his old team. Not the usual loner this time, but still good, revenge, naive baddies, a little laboured with the constant drives through LA, but overall enjoyable.
"Think Jack's showing his age"
Have been a constant Reacher fan but whether it was the almost tired voice given to him by Mr Harding or my personal attitude at the time, I felt that Jack was also tired of being leader of the push. There was certainly plenty of action but not the usual edginess to his character. Maybe there were too many characters to contend with.
Story line made me think, the characters role was interesting and they played their part well
I was constantly thinking and hoping for a good result in the end
The visit to the morgue was one of finality and hope
"There's something about that man."
I have now either read or heard all the Reacher books and oh I wish there were more. With the voice of Jeff Harding - surely the finest voice blending stern threats and machismo on the block - along with the words of Lee Child our creator of Reacher there must be so much more to come. Why? Reacher is both sensitive lover and thug with a heart, 6' 5" of unforgiving justice who carries two fists packed with bone breaking deliverance married with just a scintilla of irony. A caring ex-army major who finds comfort in helping the weak whilst breaking the arm of the town bully. This is why we need more. There's a twisted morality to the character. A flawed hero with neither an address or pretensions.
In this story his old army team highlights the unbreakable loyalty they have to Reacher and each other when one of their number is threatened. I would spoil the reading for you if I went on save to say it is 22 carat Reacher. Listen but don't mess with that man!

"Jack Reacher at his best"
When Reacher teams back up with his former team there is more opportunity for the character to interact and less of the statement "Reacher said nothing". Brilliant balance of crossing plots and an epic ending.
"a long long time getting anywhere!"
I don't think I've ever read a Lee Childs book that takes so long to get anywhere. It's as if he was being paid by the word / page, rather than the storyline. One of my least favourite Reacher books!Disappointing!
Jack Reacher fans know what they want and Child delivers in spades with "Bad Luck and Trouble". It's classic Reacher and scenes like him making a decision about how high the helicopter should fly are perfect Reacher moments - you'll see what I mean. If you like most of the other books, this is one of the best and you're going to enjoy it!
For anyone who hasn't read any of the previous books this is fairly uncompromising thriller fiction. Like most books in the genre you have to suspend a certain amount of your brain's logic processing but it's glorious fun if you like your main characters in the hard, uncompromising mould. You don't mess with Jack Reacher!
"Lee Child is always reliable"
Lee Childs always writes a great book that is very good to listen to.Great characters and Jack as solid as ever
Strong women with well thought out background. Jack is such a strong chracter that I feel like I know him personally
Jeff sounds just like I would expect Jack to sound like and it is like he is telling the story
Neither made me laugh or cry but still kept me looking forward to the next installment untill the end and then to look forward to litening again another day
If you like this you will like them all. They are all very different
"A real thriller"
My favourite Jack Reacher so far. Back with his old Army buddies and seeking revenge for their murdered friends. Don't mess with the special investigators!
"Awesome - probably my favourite Reacher book"
This is a great tale. Reacher is a bad ass but he's getting a little older and slower so this time he has help!
"Good fast pace action . Really enjoyed it ."
The narration was superb with clear distinction between the characters. The plot was different and worked mostly, so did not stop me enjoying the experience. I would recommend this as definitely one of the better books in the series.
Recommended as my first Reacher book to read. Really enjoyable. Now for my next 1
"Bad Luck And Trouble"
Thought this was a better plot line than normal, more complicated, but fear not ,a little Reacher violence soon sorts everything out.
