Jim Hawkins, a young cabin boy battles the pirate Long John Silver for a buried treasure. One of the most frequently dramatized novels of all time. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perceptions of pirates is enormous, including treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen carrying parrots on their shoulders.

"A classic for kids"
Well I just don't enjoy the story or the narration very much and would say that it's most likely suited for a 12 yr old from the 50's to try enjoy. I could be wrong perhaps adults would still enjoy if they came from a simpler time.
"The narration is so dry!! Might be a good book."
Horrible narration!!! 5 of us and nobody could handle the narrator! try and different version.
decent story narrator is monotone and lacks pizazz was often confused when he switched characters
The narrator did a great job and the story was very entertaining. Very enjoyable tale.
"Had to stop due to the narrator"
I love the book but I couldn't listen to this narrator. I had to stop after an hour of listening. just terrible very sad.
"The narrator is simply not good"
The story is classic and great as always but the reader makes sudden pauses in midsentence.
I'm sad to say that I was unable to listen to this audiobook. The story is a classic, so there are no surprises there.
My problem is with the narration. The narrator has a wonderful voice, and in dialog passages his character voices are good, but most of the time his reading is painfully stilted. Instead of smoothly delivered exposition, the delivery stutters and jerks, with odd pauses everywhere.
I'll have to try again, find another version with better narration.
