"'There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many different ways...their magical prowess - their daring - their powers of deduction - and, of course, their ability to cope with danger.'"
The Triwizard Tournament is to be held at Hogwarts. Only wizards who are over seventeen are allowed to enter - but that doesn't stop Harry dreaming that he will win the competition. Then at Hallowe'en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through - alive!

"A marriage made in heaven, Stephen Fry reading Harry Potter." (The Times)
I have enjoyed every single second of this book. Stephen Fry has done it again. His mastery of voices and accents makes you forget you're listening to the book being read by one man. Amazing talent. Thoroughly enjoyable. Of course he has fantastic material to work with, JK Rowling's writing is clever, witty and pure imagination. Wonderful
Stephan Fry's performance of this book is simply brilliant. I have listened to all the Jim Dale narrated Harry Potter books and now I will have to start from the beginning and listen again. Loved it.
I love how there is so much action and fun. I find this book great I love when the gold been connecting Voldemort and Harry's wand. I found that nice because Voldemort's wand shot out shadows of people he has killed. For example Cedric, an old man, Birtha Joukins, Lilly Potter and James Potter. This is the order it came out in the most recent deaths first then the least recent. I can't until I get the next book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Stephen Fry is just perfect, For me these stories are timeless & to be apart of the Potter generation makes me so proud. I much prefer audible to the movies
I believe the audio book & movie can be enjoyed differently as both are different mediums and both show an ever so slightly different story!
YES! It is enthralling. Scary, moving, funny...
So many favourites.
What an actor! He is captivating, my two boys hang on his every word.
We haven't finished it yet...
Due to Stephen Fry we are buying the full series (even though we own all the hardcovers!)
"Great! I have liked so much as the previous books."
The narrator is so good that you forgot that is the same person who read the different characters.
"Things are never going to be the same"
I've always found this my favourite of the Harry Potter books. Some of the later ones are probably more exciting and have a better language, but somehow this one just marks the beginning of something new, something darker. Harry Potter finds himself in this book. He does continue being very insecure, but he is a teenager. He knows who his people are now and that acknowledgement is what makes this book magic for me.
"Seriously Good Potter!"
This is the book where I think JK Rowling really decided to get a bit more serious. If the previous book had a slightly harder edge this took that further and added more depth and sophistication. While the opening books were genuinely full of child-like joy and adventure this one upped the ante considerably. Of course this one is still full of the by now expected warm humour and interplay between the characters plus the clever placing of traditional fantasy ideas of wizardry into the modern world. This is still about schoolchildren growing up and their relationships with each other and their teachers as well as all the sorcery. The humanity of the books and the way they reflect some of the serious, and also some of the less serious issues within our modern societies remains and is developed still further.
The story does take its time in building to a climactic battle and includes a few quite unexpected twists, not much is quite as it seems at Hogwarts! The tri-wizard cup is a major feature and includes some of the most exciting scenes in the Harry Potter series particularly I thought the second task which takes place under water.
For those who have previously only come to Harry Potter via the films then this audiobook will be a huge treat. The films were excellent but there is so much more to discover in this volume. Notable parts that were missing from the film include the Quidditch World Cup Final match, Hermione’s civil rights campaign and lots of trademark Rowling character interactions which explain them and what they do in much greater depth. They do make the story considerably longer but it never drags as a result! This is of course in part due to the excellence of Mr Fry. I will admit that I can’t help thinking about the deliciously evil Alan Rickman delivering Severus Snape’s sardonic malevolence but in truth Stephen Fry carries the stories as beautifully as I can imagine a single narrator being capable of.
Once again, in summary, a quite delightful use of a credit!
"Listen to this even if it's just for Dobby."
When Dobby says, "Dobby cannot let Harry Potter lost his Wheezy!"
The one where Harry loses his Wheezy.

"All wonderful until skipping 10 hours in..."
I love these books and was so excited to see them on Audible, and cannot fault the narration, story at all. My review is to warn people and perhaps audible of the skipping of the track during the first task. Between 10:03:48 for a few minutes. I have deleted and redownloaded but this still occurs. Disappointing and distracting, but at least it is not too long. I am yet to listen if this reoccurs in the rest of the book.
