I read the book a couple of years ago. Listening to the audible version has been amazing and so much more efficient.
If your a business executive like myself this is the best way to go.
Listen to this book now you need it.
Maybe by the author but the narrator is beyond irritating.
Not have it narrated by Jason Culp.
ANYONE else. A woman. Someone with a less 'American car salesman' voice. The narration was so bad that I could not stand to persist with the book itself, which I'm led to believe is actually very good.
I wish I could get my money back and find another version of this book narrated by anyone else.
The content is as relevant when the book was published as it is today but as there is language and stories used in the book that is "middle America 1950's" it takes the edge from the essence of the book.
Seek what the book can teach you and learn to expand the mind.
Maybe I'm not used to these type of books but nearly all of the information in this book is obvious, backed up by anecdotes to try and drive the point home. However because they've aged quite poorly and come across as very staged become quite a distraction.
Some good info obviously but a bit hard to get to.
"Seriously probably the most impactful book I have ever read!"
I love this book! So many golden nuggets and practical applications in daily life. I know I have to re read this book very soon.
I love self- help books, and this book stands out from the crowd in a grand way for me. I'm not sure it it's the timing where I am in my life or if it's simply the book itself - that's up to you. However the practical steps in the end of every chapter and topic is in itself priceless. One example for the beginning of the book that I immediately took to heart is:
"How can you live with people and not understand how they thing and feel?!" This is so interesting to think about and the author carries on to think about two different persons that you know, think about the most successful one and the least success if one. Compare them: what do the they do differently? What can you learn from this?
I was almost afraid to carry on reading sometimes because I felt the limitless potential of myself.
I would like to finish this review with citing the book from my head:
" nothing beats seeing yourself grow to be more successful. Nothing is more challenging to try and make the best out of one self"
With that said. I hope you are trying your best in everything you do. If not read this book and try again!
Thanks to Tim ferris and also IBM (Internet business mastery) podcast for recommending this book. I owe you.
"Chocked full of insight, amazing book!"
Common sense and wisdom in spades. Geared for business and selling, but can be used for everyday relationship building. Older terminology and perspective, but still valuable with a bit of imagination and mental updating.
"Dated but relevant"
Once you get past the fact that this was written 60 years ago the theories still apply today. It is a good listen.
"Everyone should read =)!!"
This is an amazing book and should be read by all, teenagers included.
"One of the best motivational books around"
Not necessarily. The audio version is great but its a matter personal preference In terms of reading vs listening
The applicable takeaways and easy to implement ideas in every chapter
He was a little dry
Overall it met my expectations
"The magic of freeking awesomeness!!!"
Before this book I had lost my dreams, I was in a low paying job that I didn't enjoy I had tried starting my own business and failed and almost decided to move to Puerto Rico because I couldn't live a mediocre life and so being poor on the beach would be better than being a junior software developer working 15 hours a day for the rest of the foreseeable future. My dream is to be an entrepreneur and because of this book I know now how I can do it! I have bought the audio and hard copy and plan to implement everything that it teaches so I can reach my dreams. Thank you to the author and producers!
"what we all need to hear"
I bought this as recommended by Tim Ferris in 4 hour work week. Profound in its simplicity. Nothing new or groundbreaking At the same time it's something we all need to hear. Again and again. Until we're writing our own books.
"So good I couldnt stop listening"
This book is a mind changer. It really helped me in my journey to become a better version of myself. The author uses very good examples of productive and counter-productive behavior. He also gives practical advise to become succesful regarless of what you do, if you have an open mind this book can help you gain friends, better job opportunities, money.. and anything else your heart desires.
lasting principles for anyone seeking to be a high achiever. it's all in the size of our thoughts
"Great and inspiring book"
I want to listen again to absorb even more the ideas of this book. if everybody follows his tips for a progressive thinking this defenetly would be a better world.
"Good, sound, practical life lessons. AMAZING STUFF"
As a self-help books go, I thought this was one of the best ones I have come across in a long time. It is absolutely worth reading, not once or twice, but as a handy guide.
I've recommended this book to family and close friends.
Practical advice that is easy to apply right there and then.
I read the book a few days before a job interview. The paradigm shift in the way I valued my abilities gave me the confidence to boldly ask for more money... Yes, I got the job offer and a pretty handsome bump in my salary... and all because I dared to Think Big.
"Best self help book bar far"
I've read many self help books but this is by far the most useful and impactful I have come across. Many simple ways to improve your outlook and attitude which ultimately increase your chance of success in the short, medium and long term. I can immediately relate to how changing some of my attitudes and approaches to daily work and life in general will improve my outputs and general well being and, I believe, my long run goals and success. I may listen to this once again straight away, it's that good. Don't hesitate to listen to this book if you're interested in investing in yourself.
"One of the best books I read"
I loved this book, from the beginning to the end. The author gives great advices for every day life, some might sound not new to hear, though I think are very practical and useful.
If someone is going through a difficult time, I would recommend to listen to this book. It helps to think clear, in a positive way, it seems gives some encouragement, everyone can succeed if wants to succeed. The book doesn't teach or preach some abstract concepts, it is actually about common sense and good habits.
"Changed my life for the better!!!"
I have listened to this audiobook 3x it was exactly what I needed at the right time. I would recommend this to anyone who is feeling trapped in their career or someone looking to inspire themselves to get more out of life. Thank you David Schwartz! Wish I could have met you!
"Brilliant book for all to enjoy!"
Definitely worth listening to when you need to keep a sight of the bigger picture.
"Excellent guide to a better quality life!!"
This is one of the best books of this kind that I ever listened to. Great flow of useful practical information read by a genuine enthusiast. I will definitely listen to it again and again. Thank you!!!
"a great book to help you think big and this can help you"
I enjoyed listening to this audio book, but this book gave me ideas for my sales and marketing business, kept me motivated, this book have brought me ideas to use for the future, I highly recommend listening to this voice as it very relaxing while I sleep, when I woke up still listening new ideas popped into my head. But I love listening to audio because while you listen , you can compare it to your own reality, buy the book and listen to the audio
"easily applicable tips for success in life"
some really good take aways such as writing an advert to yourself, selling yourself- which you should carry around with you at all times when you feel lacking in confidence! would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to find success and reach goals and for maintaining confidence.
I will have to go listen to this book a few more times, but with a pen and pad to take notes
The Narrator did a really good job
