Publisher's Summary

Kai's father writes novels, and his next one is a spy thriller that mainly takes place in Indonesia. So what starts as a fun-filled family vacation to Indonesia drastically changes shortly after arriving. A porter helping them with their bags at the airport sees a flash drive on the floor. Thinking that it fell out of one of their bags, he unwittingly picks it up and slips it into Kai's backpack. He thought no one saw what he did, but little did he know that many eyes were watching.

The flash drive contains a secret code that unlocks a mysterious doorway found underneath a Bali hotel. The group that bought the information on the flash drive followed Kai to where he was staying. They kidnap him and his sisters when they find out he doesn't have it anymore but might know what was on it.

With the help of a girl named Enya, they escape through the portal into a strange new world. But unfortunately, the kidnappers follow them through, and the chase continues on the other side. Soon, a couple of the inhabitants befriend them and help them return. As a consequence of their time there, they discover a life-changing side effect.
