"This book is down for the cause homes!!"
Absolutely loved it!! It's like Eric Melvin touched my souls, Smelly Almost brought me to tears, El Jefe made think about my own Mexican family growing up and fat Mike mad me laugh and think about my own vices. Jello and Tommy were great and sincere in there readings. I Fucking love this book and it makes me appreciate NOFX even more. Thank you for both guys, you all did great reading your parts!!
beautiful book. I never did understand that there were people, much less famous people I looked up to who felt similar to me.
Deep, sad, funny, inspirational, scary, educational, insightful, disgusting, and one of the most addictive books I've listened to yet. If you are a fan of NOFX it is deeply satisfying to hear where they came from and what they've been through. Extremely well written and well spoken. Thanks for sharing guys! Love you! Glad you are all still alive and doing well.
"One of the best band bios I have read"
I read a lot of these been bios and in my opinion this is one of the best. The band members narrative contributions are excellent, and make what is already a great book that much better. Great from start to finish, the book never slows down, gets boring for becomes monotonous.
"Everything one could hope for..."
... be careful what you hope for though because this isn't as "fun" as a fan of NOFX might expect. You want honesty, well you got it. Sad, heartwrenching and somewhat disturbing honesty.
I love these guys.
"FUCKING AWESOME MAN!"
It was horrifying yet amazing to their stories. it's not really for the faint of heart, but it is a real eye opener. If you're ever interested in starting a band, taking drugs, or just want something punk to read. I'd highly recommend this book just to give you an idea. Hope you guys enjoy is as much as I did.
"fun and disturbing ."
classic stories about a great band and the crazy LA pink scene in the 80s and 90s. I'll never hear the songs the same again.
"if you love NOFX..."
you will love this book if you are familiar with their music and band members.
If you've ever seen this band or played one of their records, then this book is definitely worth a listen!!! Great book gents!!
I love good punk.. even there first album "maximum rock & roll" had its moments... I've always used nofx's progression as a marker for punk. they have always/never let me down.. not only dose this book tell how it was, but it has to be true, you can't make this shit up.. best of all each band member narrated there own parts , with fill in help from jello B and the great Tommy Chong. I would recommend this book to all but like the punk rock lifestyle itself, it's made for only a few, the smart non followers, and the lucky
"Hilarious & Heartbreaking"
Whether you're a NOFX fan or not, this is essential listening. At times a very difficult listen, especially when confronted with Smelly's unflinching tales of heroin addiction but throughout it all its read with the band's unique comedic approach to life. It's completely no holds barred and no subjects are taboo, it's a fascinating insight into the DIY punk ethics that NOFX have stayed true to from the start. Highly recommended.
Amazingly well written book! Love every part of it!Finally got to learn where the lyrics to my fav songs come from.
Read the book first and then felt I needed to hear this. Great stories told by great people. Nothing would surprise me about the band now!
"NOFX souls bared"
Brutally honest, thought provoking, bitter sweet and funny. Laughed out loud and shed a tear.
A must listen for fans and non fans alike.
