"A memoir of the Cleveland Kidnapping, one of the most dramatic and unbelievable news stories of recent years"
Not for the squeamish or judgemental, this heart-wrenching account is beautifully read and portrayed. Your heart will break many times over with her honest account of her life and its descent into the dangerous path that led her to the
Hard to imagine how anyone could survive that. In the beginning I found the story so depressing but then I became intrigued at how mentally strong she is. I am unsure how she cannot hate him with every inch of her being but really admire her for trying to move forward. She must be an amazing person.
"Very moving story"
Would recommend. Incredibly moving and motivates you to push through whatever it is you're going through.
This story taught me about the incredible feeling of hope.
The voice of narrator was a bit stupid... Kind of like a Disney princess
"amazing. Michelle is magnificent"
so enlightening the strength that she has is over powering and so amazing she is 20 tonnes of dynamite in a 1 tonne bag xxxxx
The best book i have listened to in a very long time. I am in awe of Michelle. She has shown such inner strength. A must read...
Michelle is so humble and inspiring. Its hard to pick a favorite moment in the book. It did take me through all the emotions with her and her fellow captures. I couldn't put it down and had to finish the book in one read...
The title is so apt...wonderful read!
So glad i found this book. It gave me a new perspective on life. Thank you to the author for taking the time to write the book and share her story with the rest of us.
A beautifully narrated story, such a shockingly sad story about a very courageous young lady.
"Cruelty to another level"
I watch the movie then decided to listen to the book I got so hooked I was listening every chance I got and I don't normally do a lot of reading/audiobooks I much rather watch the movie except in this case I felt the book was far better than watching the movie. I can't believe how cruel the man that kidnapped her was, it was quiet horrible all the things he did to her it's truly a miracle she endured it for 11 years and made it out alive, a lot of other victims would have probably given up and take there own life but thank god she had a son to inspire her to stay strong and don't give up on the hope to see him again. I wish her all the best and I do hope she finds nothing short of happiness for the rest of her life. I gave 4 stars for the story because some times she didn't say exactly what he did to her or how he was hurting her I guess it was too hard for her say but apart from that great sad story.
The voice wasn't easy to listen to and it wasn't formatted well. The story was meaningful but it offered very little more than media reports/accounts.
"Very, Very Difficult !!, but SOOOO worth a listen."
This book takes you inside the mind of a very troubled person. Castro ..NOT Michelle. I believe this is achieved with honesty, pragmatism and down right determination to stay true to ones self. Great read but narrator could have been better.
"Incredibly moving, touching & inspirational."
Michelle's story is a testimony to the strength of the human spirit & the prevailing of goodness. Michelle endured & survived unbelievable, unspeakable hell. She had also savagely suffered before her capture. Thankfully, she survived to share her story. She's an amazing person, strong & beautiful.
A gripping & compelling well read audio. It would've been easy for me just to press stop to escape the discomfort I felt listening to Michelle's ordeal; that a human being could inflict so much pain & suffering on innocent persons, yet I was compelled to listen through to Michelle's triumphant escape to freedom.
Several memorable parts, one being how she enjoyed reading horror novels, then realised she was living in one.
This audio brought tears to my eyes & has given me an even deeper appreciation for the beauty & blessings of my life & all that's good & great in our world..... despite the monsters.
"Michelle Knight is an inspiration."
Disturbing, Heartbreaking, Inspiring.
what i liked best was the simplicity of how she told her story. she didn't dramatise anything (it was horrific enough) but she didn't mull over things, she just got the story out. also, when you read things like this, it can put your own life and your own problems into perspective. When she would mention dates and what was happening on those dates, i would think about what i would have been doing on those days and I felt very grateful. I found myself thinking 'HOW did she get through ELEVEN years of torture?' i wouldn't have made its past the first night. This girl is made of something special and i feel to listen to her story is to honour her - and also, to dishonour the man who held her captive. I will definitely be keeping an eye online to see if i can find out how she is doing.
MICHELLE KNIGHT OF COURSE - the hero
I spent most of my time listening with my mouth hanging open
and sometimes saying No No! out loud to myself when i just KNEW something bad was about to happen to Michelle. I willed her on.
"Great story spoilt by the narrator's voice"
The manner in which the narrator reads is very off putting. She is reading as if it is a disney story, very inappropriate for the content of this story.
No ! It really ruined the book for me.
