Publisher's Summary

Goal: Find a boyfriend, get married, buy a house in the suburbs with a white picket fence, and pop out 2.5 kids. Deadline: Sixty days. That's possible, right?

I'm not going to attempt a shotgun wedding or try to get knocked up by some guy I met on the internet, but there is no doubt that, this year, home for the holidays takes on a whole new, terrifying meaning. I have to travel from New York City - my home and safe haven for the last 15 years - to my tiny hometown in Vermont for Christmas, my baby sister's wedding, and my high school reunion.

Throw in Callie Camden - aka my high school class's version of Regina George - and it's a recipe for certified disaster. Especially since my mouth ran away from me when she asked me if I'd be bringing someone to our reunion, and I told her to put me down for two. Gah. Now I can't go alone.

But the online dating world is a cesspool of bad manners, speedy hookups, and outright weirdos. Handsome, single, successful - that's what I'm looking for. And it just so happens that my best friend Luke London fits all of the criteria. The only problem is best friends don't kiss....

But maybe it doesn't count if it's pretend?

Contains mature themes.

Friends to lovers, hidden feelings + forced prox.

I really enjoyed this book! I love that other characters from Max Monroe's billionaire stories were intertwined with this one and made guest appearances (I LOVE me some Thatcher Kelley!! 🤣). Max's writing was, again, great, funny and at times, emotional. Not gonna lie, I didn't quite understand why the MMC didn't just share his big news with the FMC?? Would have probably saved both parties a whole bunch of head-and heart-aches. Worth a listen. A solid 3.5 ⭐

Favourite quote: “No, honey, I’m not saying you’re high maintenance. I’m saying you’re a lunatic.” 😂😂

Drawn out

Man this book felt long! it just kept going! From their first meeting (past) to their weird cohabitational friendship now, to a series of bad online dates, to a wedding AND a Christmas deadline, plus a highschool reunion going on, and frequent jumps from present to past with little to no warning from the narrators ... there was so much that it felt both overwhelming and underwhelming at once. The FMC is so flighty and confusing at times that she makes no sense. The MMC is much more relatable, and I'm not a dude. When their friendship finally turned into something more, despite all this lead-up, it wasn't the big moment it should have been. Don't get me wrong, this book had a lot of great elements, especially a really fun supporting cast of "fluffing" pilots, and I laughed out loud, but overall, I was left unsatisfied. The female narrator, while nasal, fit the character and I cant fault the male narrator.

Couldn't finish

Throughout the story, it jumps to the past to play out a scene, which is discussed with between the characters. At times, the characters will have internal dialogues and are difficult to distinguish. Felt like it was dragging on.
