Story
Welcome to Ringworld, an intermediate step between Dyson Spheres and planets. The gravitational force created by a rotation on its axis of 770 miles per second means no need for a roof. Walls 1,000 miles high at each rim will let in the sun and prevent much air from escaping. Larry Niven's novel, Ringworld, is the winner of the 1970 Hugo Award for Best Novel, the 1970 Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the 1972 Ditmars, an Australian award for Best International Science Fiction.

Story
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried though space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). It plays by different rules. But then, some things are the same everywhere. The Disc’s very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the world’s first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land.

Story
Returning to the milieu of his Swords trilogy, Saberhagen offers a new scenario. The gods have withdrawn from the human world and the 12 Swords of Power they had forged are now scattered, lost and hidden. The weapons are still coveted, though, by men like Baron Amintor, who has lost one kingdom and now sees them as the means to another. No scruples stop him from stealing the sword Woundhealer from the White Temple, where its powers were offered to cure all pilgrims.

Story
What happens to the would-be peacemakers when they find themselves in the middle of something else? Something dangerous, something highly advanced...and something familiar? If humanity is wise, we will prepare for everything we can imagine. But we cannot prepare for what we cannot imagine. It might be benign, it might be malign, or it might be a sign. You just have to know where to look.

Story
Jordan McKell has a problem with authority. Unfortunately for him, the iron-fisted authority of the powerful Patthaaunutth controls virtually every aspect of galactic shipping. In order to survive, Jordan ekes out a living dabbling in interstellar smuggling for outlaw concerns that represent the last vestiges of free trade in the galaxy. So when Jordan and his partner, Ixil - an alien with two ferret-like "outhunters" linked to his neural system - are hired by a mysterious gentleman to fly a ship and its special cargo to Earth, they jump at the job.

Publisher's Summary
Once, mankind feared the berserkers, killer machines determined to eradicate all life in the universe. But the Berserker Wars are long over and the threat of the sentient doomsday has passed.
Or has it?
The Berserkers are back, stronger and more unstoppable than before. And one strange child, half human and half machine, may be humanity’s only hope—or its final destroyer.
Fred Thomas Saberhagen, a native of Chicago, Illinois, served with the U.S. Air Force then worked as an electronics technician and as an astronomy writer for the Encyclopedia Britannica. He began writing science fiction for Galaxy in 1961. His first novel, The Golden People, was published in 1964. He is most renowned for the Berserker® series of stories and novels. He lives with his wife, Joan Spicci, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Critic Reviews
"The Berserkers - in single-minded pursuit of their pre-programmed course of destruction, they attain a kind of perverse stature that makes them worthy of stand-ins for the dark side of human nature." ( The New York Times)
"Barrett Whitener captures Fred Saberhagen's humanity and emotion. His subtle narration carries each scene in crisp, breathy detail. Science fiction rarely gets better than this as we imagine what it's like to be alone among the stars." ( AudioFile)
