Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

In her latest book, five-time number one New York Times best-selling author Dr Brené Brown writes, 'If we want to find the way back to ourselves and each other, we need language and the grounded confidence to both tell our stories, and to be stewards of the stories that we hear. This is the framework for meaningful connection.'

In Atlas of the Heart, Brown takes us on a journey through 87 of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. As she maps the necessary skills and lays out an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances - a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heart-breaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection.

Over the past two decades, Brown's extensive research into the experiences that make us who we are has shaped the cultural conversation and helped define what it means to be courageous with our lives. Atlas of the Heart draws on this research, as well as Brown's singular skills as a researcher/storyteller, to lay out an invaluable research-based framework that shows us that naming an experience doesn't give the experience more power, it gives us the power of understanding, meaning and choice.

Brown shares, 'I want this to be an atlas for all of us, because I believe that, with an adventurous heart and the right maps, we can travel anywhere and never fear losing ourselves. Even when we have no idea where we are.'

Cartographer journey notes

A great listen. Nothing beats a reading that feels like a conversation. Feels like a deep dive and one where there are many beacons along the way. In listening I feel a great call for courage to make changes in my journey.

Extremely great, content + delivery

This is one of my most favourite, author narrated audio books. The additional stories, anecdotes and explanations included, and expressed exactly as intended, are gold. I hit repeat straight after listening and have recommended endlessly already. Brené is a queen.

Well described - a guide to understanding our emotions

Fantastic descriptions and thoroughly researched and referenced. I love the way Beene speaks as I’m discussion and will double back on moments you may read twice if reading from a paperback. Also love how she describes the diagrams in the book. Highly recommend

That's how to narrate your own book

From the outset I have to say I love the work Brene Brown does and the way she presents it to the world. It's open and honest and at the same time expertly packaged for receptivity and impact. In the audio version of Atlas of the Heart, Brene not only presents emotional experiences in a way to give them language, context and understanding, but also pauses and adds in personal expression and tidbits. It's like a lovely eight and a half hour long podcast; personalised and expressive, adding to the overall impact of the content. I love it.

Wow! Another fantastic journey to the heart and soul by Brene

I absolutely loved that the author read this important book. She was able to present it in a way that was so meaningful and engaging. There is so much to think about, so much which will resonate with each person who has the honour to hear it. I can’t wait to go back and re-listen for an extra deep dive into the messages contained within!

wonderful

Very interesting and it was wonderful having Brene presenting her book as the way she presented it made me feel she was just talking to me. I loved how she repeated important sentences because she knew the listener was probably driving or walking. I learnt a lot of useful information.
