Publisher's Summary

An Officio Assassinorum story.

On the Knight World of Dominion, a Vindicare and a Callidus Assassin are tasked with eliminating a seditious leader and safely steering a pro-Imperial candidate to the throne.

Listen to it because....

Kingmaker shows the fascinating relationship between two very different temples of the Assassinorum, as two agents navigate the complex social hierarchy of a Knight World. The stakes are high and the pressure is on, for an Imperial war effort hinges on them executing their duty before disaster strikes.

The story:

The Officio Assassinorum safeguards the future of humanity. Its agents are the bloody-handed, secret saviours of the Imperium, killers charged with achieving the impossible...and Vindicare assassin Absolom Raithe has just been handed the most difficult assignment of his career.

The Knight World of Dominion is on the verge of seceding from the Imperium, its court riven by factionalism and ruled by an increasingly unhinged monarch. With the aid of the shapeshifting Callidus assassin Sycorax, Raithe must remove the king from his throne—and safely steer a pro-Imperial candidate to victory through the brutal succession crisis that will inevitably ensue. His team will need to infiltrate a world steeped in chivalric codes, where every move risks discovery and every threat pilots an adamantine monster...for if the assassins fail, and Dominion falls, the entire sector will be plunged into darkness.

Assasins and knights

Fun glimpse into assasinorium and knight worlds inner workings . Unforrunately sub plot felt a bit weak and did not have enough meat in it.

Slow start but glorious end

It certainly drags in the 1st act, but once the plot started moving it was utterly impossible to put down. Thoroughly enjoyable and gives some great extra lore for the Assassinorum.

Tradition vies with Obligation

Thoroughly engaging blend of personal struggles, super advanced tech and ancient oaths of honour among the nobility of a failing High Monarch

Excellent Quality Fiction from Black Library

Robert Rath is an author to be watched - great story, and hopefully we'll see more Assassinorum books down the line. 5 Astartes.

The knights and assassin were aswsome

Finel act felt a bit rushed and it was sometime a bit hard to disgust between characters and I would like a second book if this becomes a series

I liked it but struggled to stay invested in it

There are some really cool scenes in this book and I enjoyed hearing about Knights and the culture behind them, as well as everything surrounding Assassin's.
However, the cool scenes are drip fed in a way that kept me listening while the entire time I was thinking of stopping, for the whole book.

The start of this book is HARD to get into and classically with sci-fi/fantasy books like this, the names of characters, locations and everything else is confusing. This book more so than other 40k books I've read.

Overall I would recommend listening to this book if you're interested in multiple Assassin temples and/or Knights.

The narrator did a great job!
