Includes an exclusive bonus interview with David Tennant.
Ian Fleming was born in London in 1908. He was educated at Eton and worked as a journalist in Moscow and a banker and stockbroker in London before becoming personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. He wrote his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, in 1952 at Goldeneye, his home in Jamaica. Since then James Bond has gone on to become a global phenomenon.
David Tennant has won critical acclaim for his performance as Detective Alec Hardy in the hugely successful crime drama Broadchurch, a role he is soon to reprise in the upcoming American remake, Gracepoint. He shot to global fame during his tenure as the Tenth Doctor in the Doctor Who series, and has starred in a number of other award winning films and television shows, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Single Father. On stage he has played Benedick in Much Ado about Nothing, as well as the title roles in Hamlet and Richard II.

"One of Bond’s most ominous and chilling adventures." (Newsweek)
"Fleming at his urbanely murderous best, a notable chapter in the saga of James Bond." (Houston Chronicle)
"Bond is what every man would like to be, and what every woman would like to have between her sheets.’ (Sunday Times)
David Tennant as brilliant as ever!
In the chapter where the 4 men were having a meeting on Christmas Day I honestly believed that there were 4 men reading the parts. His French and German were pronounced like a native and his Marc-Ange Draco and Irma Bunt were fantastic!
Ian Fleming is a real sexist but it was 1963. (How far we have come!)
Loved this bond. I never felt overly fond of the moivie, until I listened to this audio book. Im not ashmed to say it is also because David Tennant narrates it. He is amazing. Could not put this down.
Fleming portrays Bond as a real person. One can really relate to the main character. This story is one where the Movie actually sticks very closely to the story in the book. My favourite so far
David Tennant did a great job, the story was engaging action packedalthough why the end of the story happened that way I'll never know, he should seen that coming a mile off
Listened to this with the family on the dread Christmas journey, which takes four hours. They asked for it to be put on as soon as we started the journey home - praise indeed! David Tennant really brings the book to life with an astonishing array of accents, and Ian Fleming's attention to detail when describing cars, action or people was excellent. Almost thought I was in France in a white Lancia instead of rain-sodden Britain in a Volvo (sigh...)
"If you love Bond you will love this."
David Tennant narrates this book so well. When you hear this audio book you will realise just how good the original stories are.
Really enjoyed this book and loved David Tennant as the narrator. Surprised me how close the film stayed to the book (the book is still better though). A nice amount of detail which I always listen for and enjoy - Tracy's Lancia sports car being equipped with De Dion rear suspension while Bonds Bentley makes do with a fixed rear axle ; the description of the food and meals - for example. It starts as a typical Bond adventure but with subtle twists starts to change leading to the very untypical Bond ending.
Well worth listening to. Enjoy.
"Best Bond book to date"
The best Bond book to date for me. Well read too. I'll go back and watch the film again.
"excellent reading of a very good story"
A very enjoyable listen. David Tennant is a revelation, a superb story teller. I'll be looking out for more stories read by him.
"One of the very best Bond Stories. Superb narration"
David Tennant's narration is second to none. His characterisation of Marc-Ange Draco is one of the best audiobook characterisations I've ever heard. Also because Mr Tennant is Scottish, he is able to give a very true accent to Bond when in the story he has to assume the role of Sir Hilary Bray. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is in my opinion one of the best Bond books, and of those I have so far heard as audiobooks, is the finest narration.
"Great story and narration"
I've listened to most of the Bond books now and this is one of my favourites. The story is good but what made it for me was David Tennant's narration. He really brings the story to life and drew me right into it, bringing the characters to life. I would definitely recommend this cracking read!
"Book better than the film"
I enjoy the 007 films and just started listening to the book it's better than the film
"Much better than the film"
One of the best Bond stories ever penned, Bond at his gritty best with real dram & excitement, fantastically narrated!
