Le sue avventure, con intrecci inverosimili, assurdi, se sempre condite da senso dell'umorismo, hanno anche ispirato un manga giapponese, e sono pertanto note anche alle generazioni più giovani.
Il personaggio di Lupin è dunque entrato nella storia, alla pari del suo "antagonista" Sherlock Holmes, a cui si fa riferimento anche in questo libro, e così la Francia, del cui amor patrio trabocca il protagonista, ha avuto anche lei il suo ingegno investigativo, anche se non propriamente onesto...
