Story
Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

Story
As far back as he can remember James Corden has only ever wanted to be in one place: in front of you, doing something to make you laugh, cry, shout, or giggle uncontrollably. At the age of 4, he grandstanded throughout his baby sister’s christening, standing on a chair in front of the whole congregation, pulling faces and cracking everyone up. Despite himself, the vicar was impressed. And from then on he couldn’t get enough of the spotlight, even when it always seemed to avoid him. Throughout his teens, he and his Dad trudged up and down towards London....

Publisher's Summary
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook addition of According to Yes, the hilarious new novel by Dawn French.
The Foreign Land of the Very Wealthy - otherwise known as Manhattan's Upper East Side - has its own rigid code of behaviour. It's a code strictly adhered to by the Wilder-Bingham family. Emotional displays - unacceptable. Unruly behaviour - definitely not welcome. Fun - no thanks. This is Glenn Wilder-Bingham's kingdom. A beautifully displayed, impeccably edited fortress of restraint.
So when Rosie Kitto, an eccentric 38-year-old primary school teacher from England, bounces into their lives with a secret sorrow and a heart as big as the city, nobody realises that she hasn't read the rule book. For the Wilder-Bingham family, whose lives begin to unravel thread by thread, the consequences are explosive. Because after a lifetime of saying no, what happens when everyone starts saying...yes?

This was very entertaining to listen to. The storyline was vert improbable and predictable but helped a long trip go quickly.

Maybe Yes
Dawn French's narration and infectious spirit really is what buoys this text, the storyline and themes are, in my opinion, limited, predictable and yes a bit trashy. It's like watching a TV movie, fine, but by no means amazing. It's not a comedy, nor is it a quintessential New York tale, for the most part it is confined within the apartment in which it is set. Her main protagonist is never flawed, she is almost annoyingly prefect in her optimism and always 'being true to thy self'. But on the up side I did find this novel a positive influence, and even if it is a bit cookie-cutter, or picture perfect, it quaint, easy and nice. French's performance is what you would expect, fantastic and full of body, however the chopping between narrative voices really detracts from the whole, unfortunately.

This is such a charming story, and so funny, I had to laugh out loud while I was walking my dog and listening to the story.

Spoiler alerts
A little bit more adult based at times but nonetheless amusing and clever. Great voicing by Dawn and the gang... but I wish we knew who the father was

Fabulous story
Loved the story but found all of the different voices a bit hard to get used to. The voices for the young kids were dreadful!!!! If you are going to have so many different people doing voices at least use real kids not some adult doing a horrible job of kid voices. Also disappointed that the voice for Nicole Kidman had a Kiwi accent!! Really!!!!!
