Publisher's Summary
In A Childfree Happily Ever After, entrepreneur, fur-parent, and childfree advocate Tanya Williams dives deep into the reasons why women choose to have or not to have children, including the social, cultural, and biological factors that influence our decisions.
Just some of the topics this book covers include:
- How young girls are raised to become mothers
- The social and cultural pressures facing women when it comes to motherhood
- The myth of the ticking biological clock
- What the blokes think (yes, it takes two to tango!)
- How to find your own path to fulfilment
A Childfree Happily Ever After brings the childfree conversation to life, lifts the veil on how childfree women are treated in society, and shares true stories of women from all walks of life.
If you are childfree or unsure if you want to have children, this book will help you to respond to the judgement, find your voice, and make a decision that's right for you.

Tanya is my heroine
OMG what an amazing read: I was nodding so much with what she was saying I swear I looked like one of those nodding dogs!!
Insightful, funny and unapologetic, I have already recommended this read to so many of my friends
If our paths ever crossed I would gladly buy this woman a fancy Chardonnay

Disappointing
Firstly, why is there an American accent reading the script of an Australian author. It was clear the reader was not the author, because someone who lived in Aus would not pronounce QLD (Queensland) as Q-L-D. I felt the authenticity of the story was lost because it was not the actual author.
Finally, as an Australian woman without children, aged in her 40s, I was hoping to find a kindred spirit in this book. I didn’t. Whilst there were some parts that I could agree with there was a lot that I didn’t. I would love to have children but it simply hasn’t happened for me and I have accepted that. The point of view presented in this book was a woman who simply did not want kids and therefore portrayed her point of view that not all woman want kids. I was hoping to pass this on to friends that don’t understand why I no longer wish to have children, unfortunately not only has this book left me disappointed and a little mad at the views, it would certainly rile my friends with kids more so. Will not be recommending, sorry.

Helpful to a Point
The sections where child-free people were interviewed were extremely helpful to me as they provided valuable insight into their varied experiences, choices and their consequences.
However there was unhelpful content that I skipped. There was a huge focus on the negative stigma of being child-free, as well as gender stereotypes and a few other topics which were irrelevant for me. There was a defensive, pompous tone throughout the book, which meant I found it hard to relate to the author. Other people might relate better than I did.
Also, the narrator should have been Aussie because there were a few mispronunciations.
