Great foundation
As a psych in practice we tend to focus on the love languages, communication etc, this book is a very helpful foundation to build on these other strategies. Highly recommend this book

This is powerful!
This is my second time listening to the book. This time it hit home, I got a lot more out of the content.
The viewpoints are solid and genuinely worth trying. It'll be scary and uncomfortable to get going and require a lot of courage but I can see the value of it.
This book ought to be a staple item on every couple's toolkit.

Changed my marriage in an instant
So many relationship books give great advice and ideas on how to cope with partners' difficult behaviours and ways of interacting. This book goes to the core of our being and touches on the parts of all of us that need love and nurturing. The research and case studies are presented in an accessible way that have allows even the most reluctant and disengaged of partners to connect and revise the story of love in that relationship. This book has changed me and my marriage from the moment I got through the first chapter. In a week, my marriage is more connected and fulfilling than it has been in 6 years! Thank you Dr Johnson!

Love is the answer after all
The key messages of this book were great and much more compassionate than some similar books on attachment etc- we are all seeking love and safety but we have very different ways of seeking it. Loving relationships are incredibly important, so we need to understand how our partners seek safety to respond and support one another in healing and in life.
I did listen to it slowly, because I didn’t like the narration. Some of the text is examples of couples arguing and the narrator used exaggerated ‘distressed womens’ voices and ‘disassociated mens’ voices’ to which I found hard to listen to. A calm voice would have been much nicer to the nervous system. The content of the book I found really interesting
