She knows that long-term conflict leaves us drained, anxious and worried for the emotional wellbeing of our families, but says it is neither intractable or inevitable. Conflict is caused by unconscious patterns of thinking and behaviour - unresolved feelings of fear, instability or pain - that can be consciously rewired for a healthier, happier relationship.

We get to be the ones that do the vetting!
I almost didn’t read this book because Rikki gives so much value on Instagram that I thought I knew it all 😆
But I found myself nodding and gasping at the warning signals of how we get so easily hooked in to our anxious patterns when we feel hopeful with someone new
I feel excited to start dating and spending plenty of time talking with them about values and building trust BEFORE getting physical
When we are clear on our needs, we get to do our own vetting instead of trying to win them over and get chosen.
Thank you Rikki for all the research you’ve done to help us anxious attachers!
