Story
Born in 1905 in the center of the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire, Viktor Frankl was a witness to the great political, philosophical, and scientific upheavals of the 20th century. In these stirring recollections, Frankl describes how as a young doctor of neurology in prewar Vienna, his disagreements with Freud and Adler led to the development of "the third Viennese School of Psychotherapy", known as logotherapy; recounts his harrowing trials in four concentration camps during the War; and reflects on the celebrity brought by Man's Search for Meaning in 1945.

Story
In this best-selling book, one of America's most distinguished psychologists crystallises the great progress that has been made in the development of the techniques and basic philosophy of counselling. Carl Rogers gives a clear exposition of procedures by which individuals who are being counselled may be assisted in achieving for themselves new and more effective personality adjustments. Contemporary psychology derives largely from the experimental laboratory or from Freudian theory. It is preoccupied with minute aspects of animal and human behaviour or with psychopathology.

In Understanding Human Nature, (1928), Adler sets out to acquaint the general public with the basics of Individual Psychology, which holds that the driving force of human behavior is the individual’s striving for power, partly to compensate for feelings of inferiority. The purpose of the book is to identify mistaken behaviors and show how they undermine healthy relationships, in order to gently guide the individual towards adjustment.

Some product or celebrity zooms from total obscurity to viral sensation. What you don’t know is that someone is responsible for all this. Usually, someone like me. I’m a media manipulator. In a world where blogs control and distort the news, my job is to control blogs - as much as any one person can.

Publisher's Summary
Extraordinary uncovered work by the 16 million copy best-selling author of Man’s Search For Meaning.
Eleven months after his liberation from Auschwitz, Viktor E. Frankl held a series of public lectures in Vienna. The psychologist, who was to become world famous, explained his central thoughts on meaning, resilience and the importance of embracing life even in the face of great adversity.
Published for the very first time, Frankl’s words resonate as strongly today as they did in 1946. He offers an insightful exploration of the maxim ‘live as if you were living for the second time’ and unfolds his basic conviction that every crisis also includes an opportunity. Despite the unspeakable horrors in the camp, Frankl learnt from his fellow inmates that it is always possible to say 'yes to life' - a profound and timeless lesson for us all.

A short narrative of great depth
I found myself wanting more of this wisdom. This short series of lectures delivered only 9 months after Victor E Frankl ‘s liberation from Buchenwald, is a master class in existential humanism. He was still making sense of his horrendous experience, but conveys how humans may manage to endure terrible suffering. He who has why to live can endure almost any how.

Profound Vantage point
it was so illuminating to hear Frankls philosophy of life and worth after all he's seen and experienced in the concentration camp. in particular, his view that people have worth beyond their ability to work was refreshing.

This book gives more of an insight into Frankl's experiences in the death camps. It is more personal in some respects and less clinical than man's search for meaning. Loved it.

posthumously published work by Viktor E. Frankl
"Yes to Life: In Spite of Everything" is a posthumously published work by Viktor E. Frankl, a renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor. Drawing on his experiences in Nazi concentration camps and his existentialist philosophy, Frankl explores the human capacity to find meaning and purpose in the face of suffering. Frankl argues that by embracing a positive attitude and cultivating inner strength, individuals can transcend their circumstances and affirm their commitment to life.
