Story
John Eldredge calls men back to a simple and reassuring truth: God is our father. In life's trials and triumphs, God is initiating boys and men through the stages of manhood from beloved son to cowboy to warrior to lover to king to sage. Fathered by God maps out the path of manhood - not more rules, not another list of principles, not formulas, but a sure path men have followed for centuries before us.

Story
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

Story
In this updated edition of the best-selling classic, Wild at Heart, author John Eldredge reminds men we need adventure in our lives...in our work, in our love, and our spiritual lives. He reveals how God designed men to be dangerous. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: to be a hero, to be a warrior, and to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men today have abandoned these dreams and desires - aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy".

This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Story
Every man is born with just one thing: his sovereignty - his power to respond to his environment and his circumstances. Unfortunately, most men have spent much of their lives giving away that sovereignty. Every time a man passes blame or shirks his responsibility, every time he makes excuses for his performance, and every time he trades his unlimited potential for a little perceived safety and security, he willingly submits himself to the mercy of others.

Story
Good, modern, civilized Western men today are expected to think like "citizens of the world" - obligated to everyone and no one. Natural, meaningful tribal connections have been substituted with synthetic, disposable consumer identities. Without a sense of who they are and what group they have a place in, modern men are becoming increasingly detached, disoriented, vulnerable, and ever more easily manipulated.

Your response will determine your future. If offense is handled correctly, you will become stronger rather than bitter. John Bevere shows you how to stay free from offense and escape the victim mentality.

Story
How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurance - certain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference? It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. That's because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or don't appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longings - especially when we don't know if we're doing something wrong or if some prayers just don't work.

Publisher's Summary
But what happens to those dreams when we grow up? Walk into most churches, have a look around, and ask yourself: What is a Christian man? Without listening to what is said, look at what you find there. Most Christian men are...bored.
In Wild at Heart, John Eldredge invites men to recover their masculine heart, defined in the image of a passionate God. And he invites women to discover the secret of a man's soul and to delight in the strength and wildness men were created to offer.
Critic Reviews
"The exceptional writing and ideational balance (and a sensitive interpretation by Kelly Dolan) make this a compelling effort to integrate the hero's gritty nature with the public good." (AudioFile)

OUTSTANDINGLY DEEP
I'm only up to chapter 6 but already I have been given the gift of personal insight from this book and am in tears while I type this. Mr Eldridge sir, I thank you from the bottom of my hea... no from the bottom of my SOUL!!! This book shows just how inadequate parenting can be even under the best situations and more importantly explains what one can do to REMEDY the damage caused by the many slings and arrows of life.

Much that is off
many moments the supporting evidence from the bible was thin to wrongly used which made the book unreliable to me, despite some charm.

Christian Indoctrination Masked As Self Help
I didn't sign up for a Bible study. The book has some interesting insights however they are largely front loaded, with the second half of the book being largely a study of biblical scripture. It's interesting at times but it's not for everyone. Disappointing as it's quite misleading. There's also some homophobia unfortunately, alluding to the idea of being gay is a form of spiritual disease or mental illness. Wildly irresponsible to consider the types of vulnerable people this book is targeted at. Luckily I know better. I extracted the value I could take from it, the differing perspective ECT, but it's very clear it's designed for a specific type of person. The author reads with a self assured condescension despite having some delusional perspectives.
