Publisher's Summary
L.J. Shen delivers a charged, addictive stand-alone about a tabloid princess who is desperate to self-destruct...and the grumpy bodyguard who saves her.
I landed in hot water with the tabloids one too many times. What can I say? My nipple wanted to come out and say hi to the paparazzi.
After that, my father presented me with an ultimatum—either he cuts off the gravy train and stops paying for my lavish lifestyle or I agree to have a live-in bodyguard.
And by bodyguard, I mean a sexy, formidable, out-of-this-world babysitter who just happens to be good at breaking spines.
Ransom Lockwood, ladies and gentlemen.
Now he is forcing me to try all kinds of weird stuff. Stop partying, clean up my act, get a job....
A part of me wants to tell him to get lost. I’m past saving.
But the other part? The other part wants to save him.

Fun & full of quirkiness.
One of my favourites from this author so far. The characters were full of depth & well narrated. I enjoyed the quirkiness of each individual & how they all found themselves along the way. A lovely little romance.

Wow
This was a great story of two people finding themselves along the journey of falling in love. A great range of friends and family, conflict and danger. Was an awesome read. Loved the ending.
Narration was awesome too.

Not a good story. Waste of time.
I haven't even finished yet or got up to anything steamy. The only reason I have made it this far is because the narrator is amazing. But they'd probably make the back of a shampoo bottle sound interesting. Story wise, this is very lackign. I already know the romance is going to feel forced. There is 0 chemistry between the main characters. The enemies half, of the enemies to lovers, feel forced. So I don't hold up hope for the lovers' side. Also, Ransom is just a jerk and is extremely unprofessional (I don't care if he has a troubled past. If he can't be professional, he should choose a different career). Hallie seems like she's a decent person who has just found herself in awkward situations that the media in the book has twisted to match their fake story (heaven knows why her parents believe it). She's just horribly misunderstood, and honestly, her parents are the type of people who should never have had kids.
Spoiler:
....
Her literacy based issues make 0 sense. In the world she was raised in, it would be impossible for her to be near illiterate. She'd have had all the help money can buy. And yes, I know dyslexia exists, I have dyslexia, disgraphia, and ADHD. You can tell this was not written by someone with any experience with literacy based learning disabilities. Learning disabilities do not prevent all learning from occurring ever. They just make the person with the disability have to work 10000x harder than anyone else. But with enough time and money for private tutoring, literacy based disabilities can be overcome to a large extent. I understand not being able to read aloud without reading it in her head first. But to not be able to understand it at all at her age with her wealth and a private school education makes no sense.
