They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The best-selling author of Give and Take and Originals examines the critical art of rethinking: learning to question your opinions and open other people's minds, which can position you for excellence at work and wisdom in life.
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In recent months, the pandemic has forced us all to reevaluate our assumptions about health and safety and multiple acts of police brutality have challenged most of us to reconsider our responsibility for fighting racism. Yet in our daily lives, too many of us still favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard.
We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn. We surround ourselves with people who agree with our conclusions, when we should be gravitating toward those who challenge our thought process. The result is that our beliefs get brittle long before our bones. Intelligence is no cure, and it can even be a curse: there's evidence that being good at thinking can make us worse at rethinking. The brighter we are, the blinder we can become to our own limitations.
As an organisational psychologist, Adam Grant has spent his career exploring how we can open other people's minds - and our own. As Wharton's top-rated professor and the number one New York Times best-selling author of Originals and Give and Take, one of his guiding principles in life is arguing like he's right but listening like he's wrong.
With bold ideas and rigorous evidence, he investigates how we can embrace the joy of being wrong, harness the surprising advantages of impostor syndrome, bring nuance into charged conversations about abortion and climate change, and build schools, workplaces and communities of lifelong learners.
You'll learn how an international debate champion wins arguments, a Black musician persuades white supremacists to abandon hate, a vaccine whisperer convinces anti-vaxxers to immunise their children, and how Adam has coaxed Yankees fans to root for the Red Sox.
Think Again reveals that we don't have to believe everything we think or internalise everything we feel. It's an invitation to let go of views that are no longer serving us well and prize mental flexibility, humility and curiosity over foolish consistency. If knowledge is power, knowing what we don't know is wisdom.

Best listen in a long time!
loved it all, especially the last section on learning cultures. As an educational leader I loved the framing of knowing what you don't know. Alignment with developing inquiry mindset. I no longer use the phrase 'best practice' either. Thank you Adam. 🙏

Essential reading for anyone interested in continually evolving
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is committed to personal and professional growth and development and continual improvement. I found this book to contain a toolbox of principals and strategies, reinforced with a broad spectrum of real life examples which if put into practice could support continual improvement in all areas of life.
The audiobook is made all the better by being extremely well narrated by the author himself. A thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Invaluable Skill
Delightful and pragmatic! Grant lays out the scientific evidence very persuasively, although I will resist the urge to say re-thinking is a severely underrated skill, as even that could change! It seems like the practice of rethinking could be a whole subject of its own across all areas of life.
If you are willing to embark on a journey of curiosity, this book will provide you with the perfect tool for doing so.
If you think it won't, I would think again!

Requires Warning Symbol - 'Change Imminent'
What a refreshing, revealing and imperative read. Throughout the book you are challenged to revisit and understand your own concepts, beliefs and practises. Very hard to pause as each new idea, concept and challenge is discussed - bit like an onion. Oh to be a student in one of his lectures - failing that this is a brilliant alternative.
You WILL NOT finish the book in the same mindset you commenced it.

The author challenges our notion of “our own truth and reality “
The book challenges in an open manner, with a no skin in the game kind of attitude. I will recommend to any one who wants to be more curious and brave enough to admit the unhelpful habits they have cultivated. The author is very open and honest. With many examples to bring home his taughts.

Mechanics of breaking thought cycles
This book is of value to anyone wanting to change up their thinking. It offers nice stories and explanations how to rethink situations. It’s very North American centric which could be rethought to be more inclusive of the rest of the world. It gets a bit carried away with the USA culture in places. Otherwise a strong audio book well narrated worth a listen.
