Story
Aaah Russia, the most mysterious and exciting of places! It is this country, 18 million square kilometres in size and 11 percent of the entire world’s land mass, it cast its spell over me when I was growing up in South Africa, where Russians were the “Reds under every bed”, feared, and demonized.

Story
The Russian Far East, that most remote of regions on this Earth, is also home to the notorious Road of Bones. Few people have travelled there, and those who do usually travel in groups on well-prepared bikes. Lawrence Bransby, award-winning author and motorcycle adventurer, in his latest journey across Russia - the whole way this time - rode the Road of Bones twice, alone, on an old DR350 that had been stored in a shed in Kyrgyzstan for two years. Two Fingers on the Jugular is the story of this three-month, 20,000-kilometer journey.

Story
Most people would regard it as irresponsible madness for a father to take his 17-year-old son, riding old and somewhat worn-out XT500 motorcycles, on a four-month ride across Africa. But Lawrence Bansby did. Lawrence and his son Gareth set off on their old but bulletproof XT500s with a handful of spare parts, very little money, and the three Michelin maps that cover Africa. The plan was to travel north from their home in Natal, South Africa, then west through Zaire, the Central African Republic, Nigeria, Niger, and, finally, across the Sahara through Algeria, but it was not to be.

Story
In his ninth motorcycle journey, award-winning author Lawrence Bransby has chosen to travel through Vietnam. With the ever-present spectre of the war looking over his shoulder, Bransby travels throughout this fiercely independent country, meeting local people, riding sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail close to the border with Cambodia, and spending time in a Vietnamese hospital after an accident–somehow inevitable after negotiating what are accepted as the second most dangerous roads in the world.

Story
Well, it wasn't a car--it was bikes, a KLE500 and a KTM990, and by the end of the trip the KLE was pretty much trashed. On their third epic trip together, Lawrence Bransby and his son Gareth head for the notorious Pamir Highway, the second highest "highway" in the world, tucked deep in the Pamir Mountains of Central Asia. For those in the know, this area has roads and tracks that can be defined as "motorcycle adventure travel at its best". And it didn't disappoint.

Publisher's Summary
Stuck in deep sand, stuck in snow, bogged down in glutinous mud, crossing boulder-strewn dry riverbeds. A motorcycle trip that started with a vague intention of crossing the High Atlas Mountains and setting off into the desert beyond, turned into an epic journey with five unexpected highlights - venturing three times into the Western Sahara, each a little deeper, a little more remote, learning to cope with riding through deep sand on heavily laden bikes; then joining six mad Frenchmen and their guide riding sidecar cross outfits high up into the mountains and, later, getting bogged down in snow when traversing a narrow mountain pass, Lawrence Bransby and his son, Gareth, had a boy's own adventure of a lifetime.
There Are No Fat People in Morocco is the account of their trip - informative, amusing, and reflective, it will provide fascinating listening for the armchair traveler as well as those motorcycle adventurers planning their next trip! This is the third journey Lawrence and his son have done together: 15 years ago, they climbed on two old XT500s and crossed Africa together (Gareth was only 17 at the time). Then it was into Russia, heading north to Archangel and Murmansk; on the way, they joined members of the Black Bears, a Russian motorcycle club also on their way north of Archangel - a most interesting experience!

Not just a motorcycle trip.
Very well written. The author shares his experience’s and thought’s as he travel’s. A lovely journey for both the narrator and the reader (listener).
