Story
The friendship starts with a letter...from aspiring writer Sarah to blunt but witty journalist Helen, complaining about Helen's most recent book review. And there begins a correspondence that blossoms into a friendship which spans over two decades. As the years pass, the women exchange details of loves lost and found, of family joys and upheavals. Sarah's letters filled with thoughts on her outwardly perfect marriage and her aching desire for children, and Helen's on the struggle of raising her young daughter alone.

Story
On a leafy suburban street in Dublin, beautiful, poised Stella Greene lives with her successful husband, Matt. They're the perfect couple in every way, and Stella appears to have it all. Next door, at number 72, however, lives Rea Brady. Gruff, bad tempered and rarely seen besides the twitching of her net curtains, rumour has it she's lost it all...including her marbles, if you believe the neighbourhood gossip. But appearances can be deceiving, and when Stella and Rea's worlds collide they realise they have much in common.

It's Una Darling's 17th birthday, but nobody feels much like celebrating. It's been exactly a year since the tragic death of her father, Finn, and the people he left behind have been doing their best to get on with things. But it hasn't been easy. Daphne is tired of sadness, of mourning the long life she and her husband were meant to share, but doesn't quite know how to get past it. And she can't seem to get through to her stepdaughter - they barely speak anymore, so Daphne knows nothing of the unexpected solace Una has found, or of the risk she's about to take.

Story
I never expected to have to uproot my family to go live in my parents’ isolated cottage on Lost Lake. It’s twenty miles to the nearest town, an insignificant speck in endless pine forests. Nobody’s lived here for a decade. Now, I pick up a rusty pail from its nest of autumn leaves and turn to my daughter. Suddenly, I recall how I used to help my own mother pick wild strawberries up here as a little girl. Maybe, this isn’t a punishment. Maybe this place will be the making of our family.

Wonderful, wonderful story
I was overjoyed to see that there was a “follow up” to “Secrets of Primrose Square” and began listening straight after the first. It’s absolutely delightful and tested ALL my emotions although I shan’t give anything away by elaborating.
Of course, the fact that the story was narrated by the incredibly talented Aoife McMahon, added even more to this smashing story.
I have now discovered a new Author in Claudia Carroll and am currently on the hunt for more from
Her.

Although this is a light read, which is what I was after, the book raised several topical issues which were handled very well. Loved the narrator and was very happy to have listened to this book.

Wonderful
I wanted to read this book as it was the second book about Primrose Square. I found the first book through a search for books read by Aoife Macmahon who, as always did a fantastic narration. I loved the characters. So diverse yet woven together seamlessly in this story. Well done to the author and I look forward to reading more from her. I will definitely be joining her book club.
