Publisher's Summary
Will their heart's desire doom a civilization? The bestselling Void trilogy continues in The Temporal Void, an astonishing and vast space opera from Peter F. Hamilton, set in the world of the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth is in turmoil, as a cult prepares for its pilgrimage into the Void. Breaching its boundaries could cause an irreparable rift in space. Yet these fanatics are unstoppable, convinced by the Void’s projections of a paradise within. An alien invasion fleet is also on the way, as the Oscien Empire attempts to take advantage of humanity’s confusion.
Investigator Paula Myo must hunt the Void’s latest prophet, in an attempt to stop her spreading its enticing visions. And at the heart of events is Edeard the Waterwalker, who lived long ago within the Void. Tales of his glorious story inspired the Pilgrimage – but may yet expose the Void’s true nature.
The Temporal Void is the second book in the Void trilogy. Complete the epic adventure with The Evolutionary Void.

Why?
The chapters aren't in the correct order which causes the story to be quite confusing.

Great 2nd novel
Excellent continuation of the story. Don't be concerned about out of order chapters, was certainly fixed in the version I listened to (Jan 2023).

best science fiction
this series is just amazing. I was nervous about getting the second book as many reviews said it was out of order but I can assure people that it is not or it has been fixed.

Weird, out of order chapters
As I was listening, there seemed to be a huge jump in the story. When the book finished, it jumped back to the middle half of the book that was missing. It like someone took out the whole middle half and moved it to the end of the book

Good Story, great reader
Hamilton has a great immagination but his long descriptive passages are often tedious. Worth persisting though because ultimately the story is very satisfying. it would have been better to have the same reader for all three volumes.

Book was out of order
Great story but it was ruined by the chapters being played out of order. For example, the book ended about 2/3 of the way through the audio book?!

this audio book downloaded messed up.
this audiobook downloaded with all the chapters mixed up. even to the point where the book ended mid chapter (audible chapters). the story was all mixed up and I thought they were being clever because of the time travel nature of the book, but no. it was just mixed up and out of order.
