Publisher's Summary

Wentworth, Ohio: a small, friendly town where the Carver children bicker over sweets in the E-Z shop and writer Johnny Marinville is the only resident who minds his own business. On Poplar Street, apart from the impending storm, it's just a normal summer's day - with Frisbees flying, lawn mowers humming and barbeques grilling.

As the paperboy makes his round, he is unaware of the chrome-red van idling up the hill....

Soon the residents will be caught up in a game of wills as the regulators arrive in force to face a child whose powers of expression are just awakening.

If you like The Regulators, don't miss Desperation, written as an unidentical pair.

The Regulators

I’m a huge Stephen King fan even if he is writing under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman.
A cleverly constructed story interwoven with its characters in both worlds and times.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I can now move into the other novels in the series!

Good fun!

Before listening to this I read the only review which did not favour the story. I however found it a fun story and liked it slightly better than its counterpart ‘Desperation’. This version of the Tak saga told in a parallel reality is a treasure waiting for the King / Bachman devotee and as always Frank Muller is an enjoyable reader.

The Narrator Sucks

I'm a Stephen King constant reader. And I will be for life. So of course the story is amazing. But that narrator 🤣🤣 wtf. that's all I can say.

Starting to get through Kings more strange/sci-fi
tinged stories. Absolutely love this book

Didn’t love it at all

I have been a Stephen king for decades and this is a his first booked that I haven’t liked at all. Too much blood guts and gratuitous violence. How others could describe this read as ‘fun’ confounds me.

I just didn’t like the Story

This book frustrated me. For lovers of kings writing this was very frustrating. It just happens and to me there was no reasoning for it. The concept of the story was ok, I wouldn’t call it original but again in true King fashion he pays tribute to things he has loved. In this case westerns and Saturday morning cartoons. I don’t really understand why he took the same characters and put the in a different setting and story line. Just another realm of the king universe I guess. Credit where credit is due, Muller was a saving grace . If not for his Narration I honestly don’t think I would have finished this novel. It really bugged me. And ironically, besides the coda, I think it is is one of his best endings to a book but I still couldn’t get over the for no reason theory. I really am a
King fan. Just not of this.
