Publisher's Summary
From Daniel Silva, author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers The New Girl and The Other Woman, comes a stunning action-packed thriller of high stakes international intrigue featuring the enigmatic art restorer and master spy Gabriel Allon.
LOST FOR CENTURIES,
ONE BOOK HOLDS THE KEY.
Legendary spy and art restorer Gabriel Allon has slipped into Venice for a much-needed holiday with his wife and two young children. But when Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, Gabriel is summoned to Rome by the Holy Father’s loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati. A billion Catholic faithful have been told that the pope died of a heart attack. Donati, however, has two good reasons to suspect his master was murdered. The Swiss Guard who was standing watch the night of the pope’s death is missing. So, too, is the letter the Holy Father was writing during the final hours of his life. A letter that was addressed to an old friend: Gabriel.
While researching in the Vatican Secret Archives, I came upon a most remarkable book …
The book is a long-suppressed gospel that calls into question the accuracy of the New Testament’s depiction of one of the most portentous events in human history. For that reason alone, the Order of St. Helena will stop at nothing to keep it out of Gabriel’s hands. A shadowy Catholic society with ties to the European far right, the Order is plotting to seize control of the papacy. And it is only the beginning …

Thoughts.....
I really enjoyed this book. It found it thought provoking regarding the historical past of the Christian Church.

The Order
This book was an amazing book which I throughly enjoyed. His characters and incidents are authentic and make you feel that they could be real...instead of a story.

A bit predictable
Narrator was very stilted. Didn’t flow well and feel I may have enjoyed it more with another narrator

A different Allon book
I feel this book is not up to the normal "Allon" intrigue, twists and turns. Also I got a bit lost in these long names (my bad). However, I have always enjoyed the Allon series this is no exception, just not as brilliant as other books in the series. Also, Allon is talking about retiring so wonder who will be our next hero?

Another fabulous read
Really enjoy George Guidall’s performance of Daniel Silva’ rich and thoughtful stories of warm human relationships and dealing with complex choices and undesirable events.

No good! Stay away from this one!
Shallow, boring and dishonest! A waste of time and money! The only redeeming feature is the great reading performance . A bad performance can ruin a great book but unfortunately a great performance can never make a good book!

Poorly written thinly veiled Liberal propaganda
I have loved Daniel Silva's novels from the moment I first began reading them (Prince of Fire). Over the years he has broadened the scope of Gabriel Allon's character and the cast of King Saul Boulevard in interesting and engaging ways and has for the most part conveyed a sense of political neutrality that makes the novels accessible to all who are interested in the spy genre. Sadly this has all come to a crashing hault. Not only does the writing of The Order fail to meet the high standard one expects from Daniel Silva, it also pushes an albeit thinly veiled liberal agenda that proliferates more left wing fake news than it does expose so called right wing conspiracy. The current events are less current and more sensational while the politics promoted (rather than being a genuine part of the themes) are strait out of the one sided CNN propaganda play book. Added to this is the tired "Secret Order" narrative and the obvious attempts to impugn the character of organised religion.
Concerning his misrepresentation of the facts concerning the writing and codification of Christian Scripture, Daniel Silva's blatent part truth and explicit lies are inconsistent even within his chosen genre of fiction. His posited conclusions are as full of error as his so called evidences and the narrative suffers for it. The misrepresentations abound and cause the novel to descend into the revisionist history and conspiracy of the likes of Dan Brown.
As a Daniel Silva and Gabriel Allon fan I cannot express how disappointed I am by this latest effort from Daniel Silva. I guess its time to find another spy fiction writer who gets his current affairs and political information from a wider pool of resources. I give one star by way of respect for the many enjoyable novels Daniel has released prior to The Order. Regarding the vocal performance the only complaint I have is that the narrator consistently mispronounced Chaira's name.
