Story
Clare Bowditch has always had a knack for telling stories. Through her music and performing, this beloved Australian artist has touched hundreds of thousands of lives. But what of the stories she used to tell herself? That 'real life' begins only once you're thin or beautiful, that good things happen only to other people. Your Own Kind of Girl reveals a childhood punctuated by grief, anxiety and compulsion and tells how these forces shaped Clare's life for better and for worse. This is a heartbreaking, wise and at times playful memoir.

Story
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

For the first time ever, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has produced an audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

My favourite book of 2020
Having experienced depression this book has served both as a masterpiece of fiction but also self help. It is exquisitely written too. No other book of 2020 has come close to it for me. I listened over two days whereas usually an audiobook might take weeks. I just couldn’t stop listening.

Fell flat
Not sure what the fuss is about. Average, slightly long-winded story. I was eager for it to end.

the power of perspective: beauty and despair
TRIGGER WARNING: This book starts off with suicide. It does not do it lightly, but shows a woman being swallowed by depression, and the extreme loneliness and worthlessness that it entails.
because of that theme, it shows the importance of little things you do for others, and that others do for you. It shows through the story that the same life can be simultaneously horrendous, and beautiful, depending on your perspective. So treat people well.
This book is beautiful. it explores what it would be like to undo regrets, when you feel like you're like is nothing but regrets, going so far as to question if you truly know what your regrets are. It is beautiful to watch a 'terminally broken' person undergo self restoration by experiencing the lives she could have, and wished she had, had, and realising the flaws in them and the beauty in her own.

Captivating
I enjoyed this story so much. Many little decisions made determine our lives. Sometimes they seem so simple we don't realise the importance. You may decide to try a different coffee place and meet your future partner. What if there were parallelled lives where different choices made created lives with surprising possibilities? I highly recommend this book.

I regret that I postponed reading this books!
I guess this book came to me at the best time that I needed. I've been too much worried about the future, and I had too many regrets. I'm now relieved that I'll be okay that I could be the one who'd save me that I'm living the best version of me.

interesting
Felt somewhat laboured at times: I found myself skipping forward 30sec a few times when it became a little repetitive. Also felt possibly somewhat forced at times.
However, it was generally very interesting, compelling and well-performed.
