Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Growing up, she was the girl down the street. Even then, I knew she was different. She was tough, rough, and had the strength to stop a speeding car with her bare hands. We were as thick as thieves, sharing every adventure. Then one day she revealed a secret. She wasn't from Earth. She was from a distant place called the Arcadia Multiverse. Her people lived under the rule of a god-like entity known as the System. That System had its gaze fixed on Earth. And it was only a matter of time before it came for us.

Publisher's Summary
Being a mage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Especially when you’ve witnessed the end of the world and the demise of all you’ve ever loved.
As a particle physicist, William Jenkins is as unsuited to survival on an alien world as any normal 30-something post-doc could be. Thankfully, he’s not alone. With an AI, magic, scientific curiosity, and, most improbably, a deity on his side, Will must come to terms with his new reality before otherworldly terrors forever extinguish the light of hope on this new world.
Meanwhile, as the forces of darkness amass to invade her home, Effni Naridia, Qaseri Ranger, and Guardian of her peoples, must face her own demons. By undertaking a trial, Effni could determine not only the fate of her city but unravel a mystery aeons in the making.
The Last Physicist features elements of progression fantasy and Gamelit and is perfect for those who enjoy stories by Andrew Rowe, Will Wight, and Andy Weir.
Warning. This novel contains questionable quantum mechanics, general relativity, and magic.
Note: This book also features profanity, vivid depictions of violence, pain, and gore, along with depictions of mental health issues (including PTSD, generalized anxiety, and depression) some listeners may find distressing.

Sound Booth knocks it out of the park
Sound Booth Theatre is consistently the best audio production.
They choose great books, and this one is no exception.
The story is well written, and the characters have great arcs.
it all comes to life with such an excellent cast of voice actors as part of such a skillful production team. A great story is improved out of site by this treatment.
I really enjoyed the author's use of his knowledge of physics as a basis for the main character (Will) and his point of view. Wil is a dedicated experimental scientist and he views the entire universe through this mental framework. In the setting, the rules make sense and he sets out to discover and document them, attempting to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors like Voltaire.
I deeply enjoyed the world building, and felt the author set a great balance between the discovery of a new world with the character development.
I hope that the next book builds on this promising beginning and we get some politics and intrigue to go with the action. it is a great take on the Science Fantasy genre. More please!

Deep and Captivating
I enjoyed the physics based explanation of magic based world. The MC takes time to come to terms with his new situation and it was refreshing to have him to struggle with the physical and moral implications of his new world through the novel. Im interested to see what comes next.

excellent
I love everything he has put in there and how many possible ways he can take the book it's not a narrow minded adventure, it could go anywhere at anytime and it would still have you at the edge of your seat. the magic, the physics and the best part is that he is right this could be someone's story who knows right with an infant multivers. I love it and can't wait for the next book

Honest review
As a University physics student i was so glad to find very little wrong with the science involved in this story, while there is alot of technobabble it all means something. The story is fantastic; realistic protagonist, suspense, power gains, gamelit elements without too much of the long lists of abilities. Laughs, edge of your seat, and thrilling experiences to follow.
My only regrets with this book was binging this audiobook in three days, and the unknown wait for the next to come out.
Thanks to everyone involved in the making of this book!

really really good
cool story, always love mixing magic and science, well worth a credit for a fun active story that it's hard to stop listening to.
Justin felt perfect as MC and narrator, Annie's voice was a bit tinny like her mic wasn't as good, at first I thought it was on purpose because she was voicing an AI but it's for all the female voices, not to annoying. wish the twins didn't get the exact same voice, supper hard to tell who's talking when it's just them.
there were a few words that we're obviously wrong like spell check put the wrong word but then it was read as is rather than changed very jarring but I only noticed it 3 times in the first few hours of the book before I sunk into the story.

Cool take on the genre!
I really enjoyed this, the narration was good and the story kept me invested.
I do think the power progression was a little fast. I would have liked to have the powers explored more slowly with William discovering more cool utilities etc like working out the dimensional storage.
I also really liked Isk and was disappointed we didn't get more.
hopefully we don't have to wait to long for the next one!
