Detective Lauren Pengelly has only been part of the Penzance police force for less than two years, but that’s enough time to know that the sleepy Cornish town doesn’t see many murders. So, when the bones of a woman with a hole in her skull are discovered behind a derelict cottage, she immediately assumes the worst. Rallying her team, Lauren is flooded with a strange sense of relief when the bones turn out to be almost twenty years old, not a recent victim. Story and narration A1!
I am hooked. L J Ross’s DCI Ryan series is so engrossing, I actually make time to read each book in their correct order. Not only am I drawn to this author’s compelling stories, she has also teamed up with Jonathan Keeble as her narrator making my experience truly perfect. The both of them make it so.... and oh yes, the narration makes a huge difference to one’s reading/listening pleasure! Keep it up Audible!

Great story - Great plot!
This was close to my favourite DCI Ryan with lots of twists & turns ... and false leads - in the plot. Research on Firenze was thorough and clear writing style. The story holds it's plot well, without any labooured stylistic foibles. Enjoyable!

Repeating a storyline
A great story however the final solution to this crime Drama is pretty much identical to the Cove, maybe move away from this storyline in the future.
