Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

An excellent narration of a classic!
Highly recommended! Rosamund Pike did an excellent job and the recording quality is much better than the old MK & KR version. I hope Pike records the whole series!

Like hearing the story anew!
This new recording of the audiobook is SO much more entertaining that the original. I really enjoyed having a single narrator, rather than a pair. Particularly for small things like consistency in pronunciations, it makes a big difference. Will be listening again!

Amazing Read
Rosamond Pikes reading of the Eye of the world, brought this book to life.
Not only does she do an excellent job in Portraying Moraine she has gone the extra mile and embraced The Wheel of Time as a whole. I am hoping that she will continue to read and narrate the rest of the novels as well.

Dull story, good narration
Rosamund Pike did a fantastic job narrating this book and certainly much better than Michael Kramer. My issue was the rather slow and dull story. I don't really feel the need to continue with the rest of this series.

The Wheel Turns…
As a long time fan of the Wheel of Time series, since the very beginning…
This was an excellent reading of The Eye of the World, Rosamund Pike. I often forget that it was the same person reading for each character, as she brought them to life as individuals.
I truly hope she narrates each of the other books, I’ll wait with eager anticipation that she does, as it was one of the very best narratives I’ve had the pleasure to listen to…
