Story
He’s as handsome as I remember: broad shoulders, piercing blue eyes, hair the color of burnt toffee. The man who once meant the world to me. The reason I fled 11 years ago. I’ve never told anyone the terrible mistake I made that night. The secret we share. I’m still haunted by the crashing waves at the bottom of the cliffs, the blood.... Story
My hand trembles as I stare at the anonymous text. On this sunny Saturday morning, our twin ten-year-old boys were playing in the park just down our tree-lined street. But only one of them has come home… and it’s all my husband’s fault. I race to Leo’s study and demand answers. As his face turns white, I know: one of his affairs has turned deadly. I always smell the unfamiliar perfume on his shirt. I try to pretend we are a happy family, for the sake of the children… but now, my child is in terrible danger.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

Publisher's Summary
Girl meets boy. They fall in love. There's just one problem...
Georgia and Luke are in love. They've only been dating for a few months, but Georgia is pretty sure he's the one. They get along so well; he's romantic and kind and funny. There's just one problem: Luke's ex-girlfriend, Cadence, is having trouble moving on. She texts him all the time, won't give Luke back some of his things, and Georgia is convinced Cadence has followed them on more than one occasion. It's starting to get creepy.
Georgia and Luke soon move in together, but the shadow of Cadence looms large. Georgia is conflicted—on the one hand, she is the happiest she has been in a very long time, but this stalker-ex thing is getting old real quick. She needs Cadence to calm down and stop interfering with their lives. Georgia decides to go to Cadence's apartment and confront her, woman to woman ... that's when things get interesting.
From the bestselling author of The Fifth Letter comes a twisty, pacy, gripping new novel that explores the baggage we carry from our past relationships and asks how well can you ever really know someone.

Good fluff to lean into between heavy reading
This was a great story when you need a easy read.
The story was predictable and doesn’t extend your vocabulary… but when you need some fluff that doesn’t make you think then this is the book you need. Great performance by Simone Gescheit.

Good but Predictable
The first 2 parts of this book dragged on, which would have been fine if the storyline hadn’t been so predictable. The last part of the book was faster paced, less predictable and much more enjoyable. It is worth a read.

Disappointed
The story was ok, predictable by the review comments. Although it would be good to have a positive vibe on relationships.
I found the narrator’s voice for the 2 female characters annoyingly childlike and pathetic.
