Story
Pope Francis is the most liberal pope in the history of the Catholic Church. He is not only championing the causes of the global Left but also undermining centuries-old Catholic teaching and practice. In the words of the late radical Tom Hayden, his election was "more miraculous, if you will, than the rise of Barack Obama in 2008". But to Catholics in the pews, his pontificate is a source of alienation. It is a pontificate, at times, beyond parody.

Story
With prophetic insight into our times, Benedict warns of a "radical manipulation of man" in the name of tolerance, insisting that the only "authentic counterweight to every form of intolerance" is Christ himself—and Christ crucified. A lifelong Catholic, the late pope pays tribute to some of the giant figures of Christianity who have served him through the years as guiding stars: his predecessor Pope John Paul II, the 20th-century German Jesuit martyr Alfred Delp, and the silent carpenter Joseph, his patron saint.

Story
In 2018, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó released an 11-page testimony that rocked the world. In it, he called out the corruption of the Church, especially with regards to its handling of the sexual abuse crisis - addressing most specifically the case of disgraced Cardinal Theodore McCarrick - and stunningly called for the resignation of Pope Francis. And then he was gone...at least physically.

Story
This has been the most controversial pontificate in memory. Catholics are taking sides, for and against the pope and each other. Some Catholics like everything Pope Francis says and does. Others think he’s tearing the Church apart. Some say he’s a breath of fresh air. Others say he’s sowing confusion in the ranks. In recent months three best-selling books have appeared criticizing Francis. Are their criticisms warranted, or do they go too far? How are faithful Catholics to understand this pontificate, and what limits, if any, should there be on criticizing a reigning pope?

Story
Many have likened the past few years to a dystopian novel or a thriller movie due to unprecedented oppression, violence, loss of rights, and weaponization of science and technology at the hands of powerful people with dark intentions. It's coming into ever-clearer focus that the unified, global pandemic response the forced lockdowns, vaccine and mask mandates, fear-filled media coverage, and restrictions on public worship stripped citizens of their civil liberties and transformed our society.

Story
Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in 1936, today Pope Francis is the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Francis' stewardship of the church, while perceived as a revelation by many, has provoked division throughout the world. "If a conclave were to be held today," one Roman source told The New Yorker, "Francis would be lucky to get 10 votes." In To Change the Church, Douthat explains why the particular debate Francis has opened - over communion for the divorced and the remarried - is so dangerous.

Publisher's Summary
Marcantonio Colonna's The Dictator Pope has rocked Rome and the entire Catholic Church with its portrait of an authoritarian, manipulative, and politically partisan pontiff.
Occupying a privileged perch in Rome during the tumultuous first years of Francis' pontificate, Colonna was privy to the shock, dismay, and even panic that the reckless new pope engendered in the Church's most loyal and judicious leaders.
The Dictator Pope discloses that Father Mario Bergoglio (the future Pope Francis) was so unsuited for ecclesiastical leadership that the head of his own Jesuit order tried to prevent his appointment as a bishop in Argentina. Behind the benign smile of the "People's Pope" Colonna reveals a ruthless autocrat aggressively asserting the powers of the papacy in pursuit of a radical agenda.

The Vatican behaving... wrong / as expected / surprisingly / well ?
A well researched look at the Vatican administration.
Would really enjoy reading Marcantonio's inside investigation on all the people he has recognized as behaving inappropriately in this story.
Marvellous read, thank you Marcantonio :-)
