Publisher's Summary
Escape to a cosy festive bookshop this winter with this pause-resisting and magical treat.
The brand-new feel-good Christmas novel from Sunday Times top 10 best-selling author Jenny Colgan.
Carmen has always worked in her local department store. So, when the gorgeous old building closes its doors for good, she is more than a little lost.
When her sister, Sofia, mentions an opportunity in Edinburgh - a cute little bookshop, the spare room in her house - Carmen is reluctant, she was never very good at accepting help. But, short on options, she soon finds herself pulling into the snowy city just a month before Christmas.
What Sofia didn't say is that the shop is on its last legs and that if Carmen can't help turn things around before Christmas, the owner will be forced to sell. Privately, Sofia is sure it will take more than a miracle to save the store, but maybe this Christmas, Carmen might surprise them all....
Critic Reviews

Beautiful, funny, touching
This is a beautiful novel, funny, touching, keenly and warmly observant of characters and setting, which just happens to be lovely Edinburgh. I have enjoyed all of Jenny Colgan's books, but this one is a real favourite, with its contemporary fairytale feel coupled with hilarious vignettes. It is also beautifully-narrated, with great vivacity and warmth. Highly recommended.

good
I really liked this book and like this author, but in the beginning I really really struggled with the narrators voice and how she read the story, I nearly gave up but the story line was too good. I perserved and I'm glad I did because I got used to her voice and it's inflections. Recommend it.

Sweet, funny story of healing in old, snowy Edinburgh
A Christmas story that's not all about romance, but about various relationships, people changing, and healing. Lovely, sweet and made me laugh at times. The old bookshop in the cute gothic streets of old Edinburgh (where I used to work 20 years ago!) is a perfect setting for a snow-drizzled Christmas story. The voice of the narrator took a little to get used to at first (sounded very 'posh' Scottish somehow) but is very clear and she does a good job of all the intonations and character voices.

The narrator is soooo bad!!!!
I liked the story but couldn’t finish due the terrible narration. It’s awful. Was sad not to be able to finish the book but I just couldn’t listen anymore.
