Story
In Your Dog Is Your Mirror, dog trainer Kevin Behan proposes a radical new model for understanding canine behavior: a dog’s behavior and emotion, indeed its very cognition, are driven by our emotion. The dog doesn’t respond to its owner based on what the owner thinks, says, or does; it responds to what the owner feels. And in this way, dogs can actually put people back in touch with their own emotions.

Story
Living with a reactive dog can accidently create a reactive person and a cycle of negative experiences begin. There is an answer though! With understanding comes positive change. It might not have always been this way; perhaps walking once triggered positive emotion. Maybe we were happy until something specific happened; for example, we met someone with an unfriendly dog that attacked ours or made them really scared. We, too, could have felt scared, then that fear grew over the next few walks, until we felt it the moment we saw another dog in the distance.

For all the love and attention we give dogs, much of what they do remains mysterious. Just think about different behaviors you see at a dog park. We have a good understanding of what it means when dogs wag their tails, but what about when they sniff and roll on a stinky spot? What goes on in dogs' heads and hearts-and how much can we know and understand? Canine Confidential has the answers. Written by Marc Bekoff, it not only brilliantly opens up the world of dog behavior, but also helps us understand how we can make our dogs' lives the best they can possibly be.

Story
Across the world, we are killing too many dogs needlessly. In Australia, approximately 80 percent of all dogs that end up in shelters are there due to either dog-to-dog or dog-to-human reactivity. Sadly, this is not a problem exclusive to Australia. While this is a startling statistic, the sad truth is that the vast majority of dogs facing euthanasia in these shelters are highly salvageable and the solutions are often very simple to apply.

It was amazing!
I loved how expressive you are and I can really tell how much you love dogs, you have inspired my ten year old self. I have always loved animals more than I can express, but dogs have always been my favourite, I recently got my own puppy called Dasha, and she can get very naughty, but she is so sweet natured, and loves a good cuddle. Thank you so much for writing this book Louise!

New to puppy parenting and this gave me exactly all the tips I was seeking. A great insight into what our pups think and why the do what they do. The answer to good puppy parenting isn’t a one size fits all result and this book tells you why.

Some good points, but ultimately disappointed.
I really enjoyed some points that the author make about selecting a breed and some behavioural tips.
However as the book went on, I became increasingly disappointed in many hard and fast statements. "doing X will only equal Y", many of them are not that black and white. i.e. Don't teach your dog to paw, unless you want them constantly pawing at you anytime they want your attention. I find many of these statements foolish, and had a hard time taking the book seriously. I nearly feel out of my seat when the author described prong collars as something to be feared. Many training tools in this book are warned against, even though they can be very effective in the right case, with the right handler. If I didn't already have a good knowledge about dogs, I feel like this book would have actually made me more confused. Would not recommend.

Don’t bother. Full of misinformation.
Too much black and white in this book. Too many rules and misinformation. Don’t teach a dog to paw you? lol
Don’t leave a dog at home for more than 4hrs?
Only thing this author does is attempt to make dog owners feel bad.
Didn’t even bother finishing it, too much BS and absolute waste of money.
Like every other pop dog book. Very general info and nothing new.
