Publisher's Summary
The grand master of gripping fiction is back. International No.1 bestseller Ken Follett returns to Kingsbridge with an epic tale of revolution and a cast of unforgettable characters.
Revolution is in the air
1792. A tyrannical government is determined to make England a mighty commercial empire. In France, Napoleon Bonaparte begins his rise to power, and with dissent rife, France’s neighbours are on high alert.
Kingsbridge is on the edge
Unprecedented industrial change sweeps the land, making the lives of the workers in Kingbridge’s prosperous cloth mills a misery. Rampant modernization and dangerous new machinery are rendering jobs obsolete and tearing families apart.
Tyranny is on the horizon
Now, as international conflict nears, a story of a small group of Kingsbridge people – including spinner Sal Clitheroe, weaver David Shoveller and Kit, Sal’s inventive and headstrong son – will come to define the struggle of a generation as they seek enlightenment and fight for a future free from oppression . . .
Taking the listener straight into the heart of history with the fifth novel in the ground-breaking Kingsbridge series, The Armour of Light is master storyteller Ken Follett’s most ambitious novel to date.

Narrator sound like AI
good story but narrator is overly dramatic for each sentence. almost sounds like a computer has picked out words from a database and the intonation for each word doesn't quite fit creating a stop start tone overall. might just be me but it just sounds strange

Another intriguing and totally addictive read
The Knightsbridge series continues and never fails to disappoint. Once again The combination of factual historical events combined with the usual mixture of good and evil characters is an addictive and mesmerising read. I loved the wonderful plots and story lines in this story as much as the other books in the series. Ken Follett is my favorite writer and I have read many books from different authors. So many lessons in life are learnt in his books and this latest instalment is as impressive and addictive as the previous books. Can’t wait for his next release. Thank you Mr Follett.

Another amazing Kingsbridge sequel
I don’t know what was better, the story or the performance. I loved all Kingsbridge novels, but I always worry that the next novel could not match the previous ones. But every sequel gets better and better. Lovely period piece, with accurate historical facts. I recommend it to everyone.

Narration really soils a great book
As ever, another masterpiece from Ken Follett.
However, the narration is ridiculous. Silly high pitched voices for female characters, ridiculous levels of annunciation, Weird, affected, predictable tone. What a shame!

Enjoyable but not as good as the rest of the Kingsbridge series
I was so excited for a new Kingsbridge novel, and while this was very listenable and enjoyable, it just didnt quite hit the mark in the same way for me.
I didnt get deeply invested in any of the characters even though I was interested in several.

Another absorbing Kingsbridge chronicle
Loved revisiting this familiar place with a new set of characters that depict age-old power imbalances.
Did not love the narrator with his inauthentic female characterisations. Really spoiled a great story.
