Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

New and captivating
I appreciated the fact that this book was written in the authentic style of Cassandra Clare, while also (finally) deviating from the Shadowhunters. It is highly likely that this book will become my preferred piece of her literary repertoire. I’m invested in the characters, well done!

Brilliant
Fantastic book, and lovely narration, although the awkward pronunciation of the Korean words was a bit hard to listen to.
Highly recommend this book in any form! It's Cassandra Clare's most ambitious endeavour and one of her all time best works.

Best Adult fiction Novel of 2023
This is Cassandra Clares best series yet, this book is breathtaking. I think I love this universe even better than the Shadow hunters Universe. The character plots weren’t predictable, and personalities are very rich, the story is addicting. Cassandra Clare belongs in the genre of Adult Fiction and I hope she makes herself at home here. The second book cannot come out soon enough!
