Story
It’s 2006, and terror scaremongering in the media has rattled the residents of sleepy, suburban Dunlop Crescent. When a Maori family moves into number 14, the local cranks assume they are Middle Eastern terrorists hell-bent on destroying the Australian way of life. Rumour has it that they plan to turn their house to face Mecca. This sets off an extraordinary chain of events that embroils the entire neighbourhood as well as cynical media figures, bumbling antiterrorist police and a gang of white supremacists with a radical plan to wake up the country and ‘preserve Australian values’.

Story
At the very end of the Ladies’ Frocks Departments, past Cocktail Frocks, there was something very special, something quite, quite wonderful; but it wasn’t for everybody: that was the point. Because there, at the very end, there was a lovely arch, on which was written in curly letters Model Gowns. Written by a superb novelist of contemporary manners, Ladies in Black is a fairytale which illuminates the extraordinariness of ordinary lives. The women in black are run off their feet, what with the Christmas rush and the summer sales that follow.

Story
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

Publisher's Summary
When May’s mother dies suddenly, she and her brother Billy are taken in by Aunty. However, their loss leaves them both searching for their place in a world that doesn’t seem to want them. While Billy takes his own destructive path, May sets out to find her father and her Aboriginal identity.
Her journey leads her from the Australian east coast to the far north, but it is the people she meets, not the destinations, that teach her what it is to belong.
Swallow the Air is an unforgettable story of living in a torn world and finding the thread to help sew it back together.

Stunningly beautiful...
Intelligent kindness and courage brought to life. Extraordinary writing, words given breath. Makes clear how each and every Aboriginal person, living or passed, is precious to a better understanding of this country and what it means to have the privilege to be here.

Truth
So many of these stories hit me deep in the feels. The combo of Winch and Shelton is utter perfection. I’m still learning my language, and no longer living on my own Country, so it’s the first time I’ve heard ‘Biami’ spoken out loud.
Books and their audio versions are so important for sharing knowledge and creating belonging. I could not be more grateful.

A beautiful piece of prose
A poignant and tragic story. Brimming with evocative imagery woven through the choice and composition of words. Between the lines, truths are told of the fate of our First Nations people as a result of White colonialism. Yet I was left feeling hope for May Gibson and marveled at hers, and her people's resilience, in spite of it all. Thank you Tara June Winch, I loved it.
