It's easy to trust God when things are going our way and the world makes sense. But when suffering strikes - especially seemingly senseless suffering - we are filled with doubt and stunned by events spiraling beyond our control. In the midst of suffering, we often question the very foundation of our faith - our belief in the God who says he loves us.

Story
There are many blessings that come with age: retirement, grandchildren, travel, and life experience. Today's culture, however, marginalizes old age, often portraying it as burdensome and hopeless. Many older women can feel like an encumbrance rather than a blessing to their friends and family members. In response to these struggles, Sharon Betters and Susan Hunt encourage women to find hope through both real-life and biblical accounts of women who rediscovered gospel-rooted joy later in life.

Inspirational
Words fail me to describe the encouragement of this book to my heart. What a gift Joni is to the body of Christ. He has gifted her a ministry of suffering and then strengthened her to persevere, that those who follow may keep persevering also. Only eternity will reveal the cost, but I can certainly hear Joni say "It was worth it all". Thank you Jesus, and thank you Joni.
