Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author James Lovegrove’s continues the story of Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles, as five years later, another monstrous creature stalks across Dartmoor....

The year 1894. The monstrous Hound of the Baskervilles has been dead for five years, along with its no less monstrous owner, the naturalist Jack Stapleton. Sir Henry Baskerville is living contentedly at Baskerville Hall with his new wife, Audrey, and their three-year-old son, Harry.

Until, that is, Audrey’s lifeless body is found on the moors, drained of blood. It would appear some fiendish creature is once more at large on Dartmoor and has, like its predecessor, targeted the unfortunate Baskerville family.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are summoned to Sir Henry’s aid, and our heroes must face a marauding beast that is the very stuff of nightmares. It seems that Stapleton may not have perished in the Great Grimpen Mire after all, as Holmes believed, and is hell-bent on revenge....

Wonderful with a lot of ups and downs

Wonderful with a lot of ups and downs and just when you think it’s over think again.

Another great performance by this wonderful narrator

A fine edition

This is my second book from Lovegrove, after Christmas Demon I was excited to hear another. I must say, this sits at second best of the two. still a fine book, and an amazing performance, but it didn't hold me quite as tight as Christmas Demon had.

Another Tall Tail in an enjoyable series

I love a good Sherlock Holmes story. Obviously there’s the originals, the otr radio ones, the basil rathbone movies but where next?

To me it’s either the more traditional ones by Bonnie Macbird ( which are great) or these ones which move the story into a wider, more imaginative world.

Good fun, excellent narrator

This series is a lot of fun. It's just the escapism I need right now. It's a little slow to start but more than makes up for that by the middle. I'm so happy these books are available in the included books now, they're really helping me get through this infinite lockdown.

Faithful to the original, with flare and originality

The performance is flawless, the story compelling and the chance to spend time with the great detective in a new, yet authentic adventure is an absolute delight.
Tour de force by both author and narrator.

Dead wringer for Doyle

I love sherlock Holmes and am glad somebody carries the torch so eloquently. Great characters, just the right amount of anachronistic Victoriana, and a plot which takes along from Devon to the wide world... High adventure ahoy!

good but not great

Reasonably enjoyable. Good enough to listen to while gardening or doing housework as the narrator's voice is perfect for a sherlock era book. However the story is drawn out way too long and I figured it all out very early. Plus sherlock isn't very sherlocky at all. So if it's free or super cheap then get it but not worth full price.

don't waste your time

if you're looking for more classic SH stories, I highly recommend Barry Day over these clumsy imitations.
