Publisher's Summary

Sharpe’s Tiger is the brilliant beginning of Sharpe’s adventures

India, 1799

The citadel of Seringapatam is under siege. Navigating this dangerous kingdom of bejewelled palaces and poverty, Private Richard Sharpe embarks on a rescue mission to save a senior officer from the clutches of the Tippoo of Mysore – and oust the Sultan from his throne.

The fortress of Mysore is considered impregnable, but one of the greatest threats comes from betrayal within the British ranks. And the man to outwit enemies from both sides is Sharpe . . .

The slowest of the series but still a cracker

A great start to one the best series I’ve read/listened to. The characters are developed so well and set a great back ground for the future books. Recommend this series thoroughly and loved Sharpe’s origin story.

Off to a good start!

I've been aware of this story franchise for quite some time, but neither read, nor watched any of the adaptation.
But given my enjoyment of some of Cornwall's other works, I thought I should give it a try.
I did find it a little difficult to get into, in the beginning, but after a chapter or so, I was fully invested.
Needless to say, I expect to continue with the series in due course.

Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe's Series: Book One

Bernard Cornwell First Book of the Sharpe's Series was a great story and was equally brilliantly read by Rupert Farley. Each character easily identifiable but Rupert's skillful linguistics.

Great characterisation, beautifully read.

Rupert Farley’s narration of this book was faultless. His accents and nuances of each character’s speaking lines really brought them to life.
Sharpe’s journey was gritty and dangerous but never glorified while the historical setting immersed me in a time where things were very, very different.

Wonderful Narrator

Wonderfully narrated. Consistent and well done character voices and accents, I have no trouble wondering who’s who when multiple characters are talking

Brilliant Narrator

Loved all Cornwell’s books to read. Time to work through them with this Narrator. Very enjoyable.
