Really Enjoyable
I really like this authors books. The book is full of really likeable characters, and some truely bad ones. I couldn't stop listening to it.

Who is the shadowy character haunting the Fens?
I was both reading and listening to this book. I chose this series (from Joy Ellis) as I had enjoyed the Jackman and Evans series on the Fens - and the latest I read mentioned DI Nikki Galena, which piqued my interest.
I really enjoyed the story, definitely love the characters, Nikki Galena and Joseph Easter, the setting on the Fens sounds amazing, and the intrigue woven by Joy Ellis, for me, is spot on.
However, I must have been spoiled by the narrative talents of Richard Armitage.
Firstly, I had to slow down the pace of Henrietta Meire's narration - which helped a little, however it seemed to then distort the 'male' dialogue inflections. So while I may continue to read the DI Nikki Galena Series, I won't be purchasing the narrated file.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book tremendously... I think I will become a avid fan of Joy Ellis.
The story moved along at a gentle pace and it had a unexpected ending.
Fabulous narrator, once you get used to the accent.

A gripping and entertaining listen!
When men with similar features to an old army colleague start to turn up dead, DS Joseph Easter must confront his brutal military past. Meanwhile DI Nikki Galena is determined to learn why a friend suicided. This was a rip-snorter: lots of menace, murder, and distrust! Joy Ellis perfectly balanced the personal lives of Galena & Easter with the impacts of the killing spree, and tied it all together with juicy conspiracies. I felt the dialogue in this second book was more interesting and less generic, I could really see Joy Ellis getting into her stride here. I also thought Henrietta Meire gave a much better narration on this audiobook, giving DI Galena and other characters more regional accents. I still find her Easter voice a bit prim, but overall this was a vast improvement.

Complex Plot Structure and Twisted Ending
Loved this!! So many seemingly dead ends that ended up an unexpected gnarly encounter. The main character seemed to be made of rubber, as she just kept bouncing back from one physical altercation to the next.
